I love experimenting. Theres not many tyres ive fitted more than once. The exceptions being the BT57 on my EXUPs...a tyre sooo suited to that bike. The Metz MEZ4 which i used several times on my old REX & also on my Blackbird...& i think i might well be going for another pair of these Mich Mac M100X's.They really are such a well suited tyre to the ZRX. The only other tyre id love to try on the REX is the brilliant Avon AV45/46ST combo. These tyres were sublime on my Blackbird & im curious to see weather they work on the Rex as well . The thing is,these Michelins really are THAT good...

So...hows the Michelins going Grem? Ive done about 1100 miles on mine & theyre all but finished. Got about 2-300 miles left in them i rekon. So...for me,theyre a great tyre on the Rex,very well suited to the bike. However, they dont last long. I expected to get 1200 miles out of a rear on my Blackbird,or ZZR,or GSXR1100 etc...but not on a friendly old Rex... The front, however has hardly worn at all Prehaps i'll stick another one of these on the back until the front one wears out. Is it me...?

1400 miles on a rear tyre, at that rate I'd be changeing me tyres every six weeks. 2000 miles on me road attacks so far and they have hardley worn.

. . . Is it me...? Might well be. Mileage improves when your right hand isn't cranked full turn most of the time, ya no?

I have worn tyres out in as little as 800 miles before now...but ive grown up now..! This i can handle on a powerful tyre shredding 150bhp bike, but the ZRX is such a soft, smooth old thing. Heavy yes,but its no powerful tyre shredder. Sure i ride it hard...but i had hoped for a few more miles. Id be happy with 2000 miles from a rear on the ZRX. Gotta say,it surprised me that the Mich has worn so fast.Maybe i should use the harder M90X on the rear... I have my theory for the bad wear rate...but im tired(pun not intended... )& i wanna go to bed...

Be interested to see how GREMLIN'S wear.......Can't get my head around 1100 miles from a tyre and the bike's not a Hayabusa My standard BT020 has done well over 1100 since fitted when I got the bike and it looks like brand new...... I must be VERY VERY slow

I've now covered about 1200 miles myself and can happily report that these don't seem to be wearing any quicker than 020s at a similar mileage. Snoopy must be a more agressive rider than me to have worn his so quickly. I'm convinced that the the M100s are a softer compound than the 020s though. The extra grip and confidence comes from somewhere. Even 2-up with luggage on wet roads (luggage roughly equates to 3-up due to its weight and position) I'm surprised at the speeds and lean angles we're carrying through the twisties. I'd never have dared attempt that on the old 020s. I was slowly and progressively increasing my corner speeds and lean angles, waiting for a warning 'twitch' that never came. I was happy with the performance and didn't push my luck any harder. 020s I always found twitchy in the wet.Front tyre is unworn and the rear is worn evenly. (No squaring off caused by riding like a wuss in the wet ) I'm not expecting anywhere near the 6000 miles I've come to expect from Bridgestone tyres and shan't be at all upset if I only get 4000 or so. These tyres feel so much safer, particularly in the wet and as an added bonus are a lot cheaper too.

Yeah,i go along with that Grem. They sure do grip well & are really confidence inspiring. I really rate them & they work so well on the Rex. My theory on the excessive wear is as follows. I think that because ive been riding the Blackbird with its complete excess of power(even more with the DJ,K&N & Microns)i was finding that there was nowhere on the public roads to properly use all that power, hence it was rarely given its head. When i was able to open it up,it was mindblowing(more power than a Busa with the mods)but you always had to be so careful because it would spin up everywhere & the rate at which it accelerated had to be experienced to be believed. Then i jump onto the Rex with probably 60bhp less & a few kilos more & i find that i can ride the bike to its maximum. I can thrash the bollocks off of it in relative safety...kinda in the same way that you can ride a ZXR400 absolutely flat out on the road, using all of its power-yet you cant do the same on a ZX10R. I reckon its because i can use ALL of the power of the REX.I can thrash the nuts off it & it still remains, friendly, stable & confidence inspiring...and because i can...i do...all the time...and THATS where my tread's going. Also,i dont go touring. Apart from my daily commute, every ride is a bit of a thrash.I dont tend to ride for 8 or 10 hours taking in the scenery.I tend to ride for riding's sake...and when you get into "the groove"...you just ride, dont you...then you put more petrol in and ride some more. Well, thats my theory anyway...

BTW Floog...i ride hard...but not fast...rarely over 100mph. You can have so much fun at 95... And also...no,youre not "slow"... Just because you dont have my huge tyre bill doesnt make you slow. Youre probably a lot smoother than me...& in any case,it really doesnt matter. As long as you ride as quickly as you feel comfortable with & you are riding within your capabilities...who cares how "fast" you are. The main thing is to survive, smile & enjoy it...

Cheeky bugger Floog. . . thats a title im NOT proud of. . . They still take the pi** out of me on the "other" site because of my tyre shredding antics... Maybe if i "behaved" myself a bit more & showed more restraint,i could save up for those stainless exhaust headers id like,or the front discs i need...instead of spending all my money on bloody tyres!
