Guess it depends what you want from a tyre. Long life? Maximum grip? Good in the wet? Cheap?
Gotta say we've used Maxxis on the 7R and the 9R and no complaints about grip or mileage

I have Maxxis Supermaxx sports on my 7r. Done 5,000 miles on them, rear was totally shot, but it did include a fair few burnouts and lots of motorway miles too, I was very impressed, so I have just put another one on the back. Front still has plenty of life. The new pirelli angels are supposed to be good as are the Avon Storms/Viper Sports for something a bit different again

Bridgestone BT 023s, soooo much better than the 021s. The 021 front I had was positively dangerous unless fully warm. The rear was OK though

Got Pirreli Diablo Stradas on mine, as I mentioned, round and black, though the rear is sorta square now and the front is rather flat :mut:

This year I put on Metzler Rensports cos they were on offer at Busters for £140.
Very pleased with them & they suite the bike well. Can't see them lasting very long tho.
Had Conti's on last time & didn't get on with them at all, twitchy as fook over road markings from day one. In fact, they were so bad I thought something was wrong with the bike.

I have done Dunlop BT020 / 021 /023GT Avon Stroms & now trying Pirelli Angel ST all of the above are great rubber the Avons hade the edge grip & feel over the BT's & the Pirelli's are just like the Avon's but quicker to flick in the corners now I know the guy who is the development rider for Avon & he swears the new Storms are by far the best rubber (road tyres) he has rode so I for one will try them at the next tyre change, not only that have a look at the bikes Avon used to develop them & also enter there competition you could win a pair (A..eight wonder of the world) www.theridersdigest.co.uk/competition.html

If you fit Avons and you damage or puncture one before you have used 1mm of tread they will give you a new one for free.
