Renntec engine bars on mine for the above reasons. i.e cheaper than replacing engine casings. Nice tidy looking bars, not too bulky and obtrusive and actually IMO go some way in adding to the retro look of the bike. There are two schools of thought here. Some prefer mushrooms with theirs.

That's why I don't have a bellypan - engine bars get in the way.

Hi there again thought i'd give the mushrooms a miss and bought a pair of renntec engine bars instead, got them from Performance Motorcyle Parts completely over the net (paid by card), ordered Sat arrived Tuesday morning cost £61 + £9 p&p sweet transaction no probs at all. Now to my querry, does anyone know what the torque settings are for the front engine mounts (14mm nut and bolts pass threw bracket and threw engine casing on both sides of engine just below bottom of rad) and also rear engine mount (single bar threw engine bolted both sides just above swingarm, hidden by rubber bungs). Am a hamfisted git at the best of times and always remember me bro cracking an engine casing on his honda whilst fitting eng bars not a happy bunny!!!!! Any other thoughts, comments greatly received ie finger tight half a turn and a blob of locknut or similar!!! cheers Pip PS wiped whole bike over with a banana skin this morning you wouldn't beleive the shine!!!

Hi there again PS wiped whole bike over with a banana skin this morning you wouldn't beleive the shine!!! Hope you ate the banana first for vital potassium, and used the inside of the skin to wipe the bike over, and not, as is commonly misconceived...the outside yellow of the skin... The shine will last for ages, but never hurts to douse in Banana milkshake once a week or so to buff up the paintwork....

Torque settings HEREThe only other tip I can give you is that the Renntec bars come supplied with a replacement rear engine mounting bolt which is threaded at both ends. Mine also came supplied with Nylock shakeproof nuts which looked a little untidy. I shortened this bolt a little and fitted split washers and dome nuts to mine instead. Still wont vibrate loose and it looks far neater. OMG wait 'till FLOOG reads this.

Floog just wipes himself over his REX to get the shine. Trouble is he is then covered in vasaline which does then worry the locals.

FLOOG ON PETROLEUM JELLY....YET AGAIN For a couple of years now I have been using a product called MINK OIL which I have sent over from my folks in Canada or buy myself when I am out there. I use it on my leathers and gloves and it does a superb job of renovating them and imparting a nice waterproof layer and shine.... Recently, I ran out and used some Petroleum Jelly on my Kawasaki leathers just to see if they could clean the muck off the white sections...... :hmm: WOW!! Better and cheaper than the Mink oil, the PJ leaves a lovely shine on the leather and cleans it up a treat. I am well pleased....... Have been using now for a couple of months and the leathers look cleaner/brighter with a shine, and the white sections in particular have cleaned up a treat Works for me..... Next week, HOW TO CLEAN MINOR BODYWORK SCRATCHES WITH A BRILLO PAD AND WIRE WOOL

I believe that Floog has also discovered that if you happen to inadvertently dismount your bike whilst it is moving, if one is on relatively smooth tarmac, one can glide a good two miles on those same glistening, petroleum jelly covered leathers without even raising a scratch on them. Getting up, however, whilst totally smeared in petroleum jelly, is another matter.
