I believe that Floog has also discovered that if you happen to inadvertently dismount your bike whilst it is moving, if one is on relatively smooth tarmac, one can glide a good two miles on those same glistening, petroleum jelly covered leathers without even raising a scratch on them. Getting up, however, whilst totally smeared in petroleum jelly, is another matter. Blimey, LIGHTSPEED has pre-empted the video I had taken to accompany this post..........

Engine bars fitted!! what a bitch of a job getting them onto rear mounting bolt, hole was out by couple of mm and had to flex bars to fit but worth all the swearing and tears look great, used some plastic covers on bolts, found that BMW front seat bolt covers did the job a treat and only cost few pence finished it of nicely. Also added stainless steel rad cover and a renthal brace for good measure and started playing with rear suspension settings like back end quite hard. Pip

As a tip for future reference if you have top remove the bars for any reason. I fit mine loosely to both front and rear mountings (assuming they reach) and fasten the lower frame rail clamps last.

Pip :ten: You're smitten You've got the REX fettling-itus bug for which, thankfully there is no cure other than to keep fettling.... I raised my rear spring preload to the 4th ramped setting and It's absolutely wonderful.....like you, I like a stiffer rear end ( ooer missus )

I,m on three at the moment with damping set at two unfort babysitting at mo so can't take her out for a spin (and just cracked second can of Fosters dam its warm here!!). How much do you weigh Floog (or is that to personal!!) i'm a bit on the light side. cheers Pip

It's obviously all down to preferences, but I like the rear stiff and less bouncy than many. Tried 3rd ramp setting and wasn't happy went to 4th and It's spot on for me I can FEEL what's going on now I also dropped the rear pressure from 42 to 40 and rear compresion to 2 and rebound to 4

i'm a bit on the light side. Same here. After a really big breakfast I barely tip the scales at 10 st. My rear spring preload for solo use is all the way down to '1' . Ant higher and a bumpy road kicks my ass off the seat. Have you tried the suspension settings from HERE? A fair number of us use those to good effect and they also allow you to 'dial in' an allowance for weight (or lack of). I have two sets of settings, as it were, based on those, one for solo use and the other for 2-up. Always been happy with the results. The bike really feels no different whether solo, 2 -up or even on the third set of settings that I just remembered which also cater for luggage.
