Hi everyone!!! I'm Andy, or Dobbie (nickname from work), live and work in leicester, originally from Leek staffs. I'm 29 years old. Just brought my first Rex, i spent the last year on a Triumph Sprint ST 1050 55 plate, first the big end bearing went leading to engine rebuild, 6000 miles later the clutch bearing disintergrated, sendin ball bearings and metal fragments into my newly built engine so had to go!!! been on the rex for 3 days now and am really impressed with it!! she needs a little bit of tidying up, but looking forward to seeing what modifications are available. and hope to meet some of you on rides out!!!!

Welcome Andy, just to assist with a little knowledge, the R is the rex with a small bikini fairing surrounding the headlight and is availaible in either the 1100 or 1200cc models, the change from the 11 to 12 engine was around 2000. the S is the rex with a half fairing on the front and is only available in 1200cc form. most rex purists tend to diss the S model as moving to far away from the original idea of an ELR (Eddy Lawson Rep), which is why the majority of R's are various shades of green with stripes. (other colours are available). however, those with an S model tend to belive they are better for long distance high speed work and take to the hard luggage better, (ie the fairing on the front lends to better weight distribution when the luggage is fitted ) the engines of both are detuned ZZR lumps and will take an awful lot of punishment (one has even survived the brakey treatment :hmm: alright to be fair with a lot of help from m8withblackbird ) and are therefore ripe for tuning etc. there is an awful lot for bling available for the rex, from simple polished rear brake torsion arms, to glass windowed cluch covers. so enjoy.

Check out this website they do some really good racks, at fair prices, durable, and sturdy as long as you don't over fill the top box!

Yes, whatever you do, don't overfill the top box. Save that for a spare space to keep lid while not riding, spare gloves, waterproofs, maps or anything small and light that you might want to keep conveniently handy. Rex goes horribly light at the front with an overfilled topcase and develops an "interesting" weave at high speeds. Best not go there. Don't ask me how I know. Oh, and welcome to :zrxuk:

I think they're a bit like hens teeth tbh. Givi might do a set, I'm not sure, but the Kawasaki dealers did sell them up to a few years ago. Might be worth ringing around to see if any dealers have any spare. Dad (12S) has a set, as well as Firmhand (12R) and they look equally sorted on both bikes - proper muscle sports tourer
