sw motech do a really smart set of hard luggage racks that can be virtually fully removed in seconds to give the bike a almost stock look!!
and also found a set by 5stars which is a german manufacturer thay are more like conventional givi racks and £140 cheaper! these can be found on the getgeared website!

I think they're a bit like hens teeth tbh. Givi might do a set, I'm not sure, but the Kawasaki dealers did sell them up to a few years ago. Might be worth ringing around to see if any dealers have any spare. Dad (12S) has a set, as well as Firmhand (12R) and they look equally sorted on both bikes - proper muscle sports tourer oy, dont forget me, Ive got aset as well

Always used soft luggage on my bikes. Don't like the look of the racks when the bags aren't on, and most of the time, they aren't. Have a pair of Nelson Riggs Sphere soft bags that clear the Akra and expand sideways with zippers to hold a ton of stuff. Most of the time I don't even expand them. Two clips and they are off.
They aren't waterproof (are water "resistant") but have waterproof liners that have kept everything I've put into them dry.

I too have a full set of Givi Hard Luggage and apart from not liking the look of the racks when they aren't in use the co-pilot doesn't find them quite so convenient and comfortable as pillion grab handles either. The givi racks are only secured by four bolts which locate in the same holes as the original grab handles by means of a set of cylindrical spacers. Easy 10 minute job removing the rack and putting the grabs back on. In fact if you are touring, or more to the point living away from home and using one location as a base for your touring activities, then it'd be perfectly feasible to take the grab handles with you and refit them once you arrive. You can then happily go touring without the clutter of all that untidy scaffolding on the back.

Run of bad look continues!!!!!!!!
Arranged to meet at a friends house on monday for a ride out, weather not great but i don't mind as i usually ride all winter, i manage the 25 miles of back roads and lanes to my mates town incident free, get to within 1/2 mile of my mates house and the moron in the tin box i'm following decides to slam his anchors on to let oncoming traffic through a gap that he has right of way on! roads very wet and greasey back wheel locks nearly manage to save it but back wheel grips highsiding me onto the tarmac. rex goes down ripping off fairing damaging handlebars denting tank, scratched engine cover, snapped gear linkage! best part of all not one single car stops to help me out of the road! 2 days later very sore ribs shoulder and hip and rex loaded onto a transporter to be assessed by insurance company! thank god i'm fully comp and that i was only doing 25mph at the time!!!

So sorry to hear the bad news. Glad you're basically OK. The REX can be fixed. That's one of the reasons I don't ride "by choice" in snow. I have ridden in severe winter weather conditions that have occurred during trips into the mountains, but I don't tend to start out in the snow. Just too many more variables over which I have no control.
