Having had a electrical failure on the ZRX last year (voltage regulator fried the battery) and having been very busy with work, family and social commitments etc the bike subsequently remained in the garage for the rest of the 2014 season, regrettably! But as the first glimmers of spring appear again the sole slowly stirs from it's winter sleep and awakens to vague flickering images of the ol' ZRX in the mind which spark memories of good times and ride outs. Of warm sunny days with the wind upon your face, well-weathered leather, hot metal and oil, the scented country air, sunlight on chrome, the blur of the landscape, with every nerve aware! From this awakening, has come action! Ordered new voltage regulator, battery (Motobat), spark plugs (NGK Iridium), oil (Castrol Actevo) , oil filter (K&N) and air filter (K&N) to get the ball rolling. New parts arrive early next week ready for installation and in readiness to fire the beauty back up, at long last! Dates already confirmed and in the diary are: 26th April - Kawasaki Day @ The Ace Cafe 16th May - Ride The County 2015. You can help them raise money for Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust too by donating at www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/ridethecountyOther possible dates for consideration, yet to be confirmed: 19th June - World GP Bike Legends 2015 @ Circuito de Jerez, Spain 27th June - Goodwood Festival of Speed 30th Aug - Moto GP @ Silverstone 19th Sept - Kop Hill Climb, Bucks And that is the story, so far

Hey, glad to see that you're managing to recover from the previous year's lapse. Those are the reasons many of us ride, or in my case, anticipate riding as we are still engulfed in snow. Looks like you've picked up all the necessary bits to get on the road again for this year. Wish we had anything like the concentration of bike-related events to attend. Our distances are just so large. On the good side, while one of the local race tracks closed last year, another one that is only a few miles away is opening up a new road course this summer. From my contact with the local racing group, it looks like they already have a slate of races and schools planned at the new facility. Something I'm going to be checking out!!!

Snap, did an Ironbutt end to end (JOG to Lands End in 24 hours or less) last July and ended up knackering my back, couldn't ride for six weeks after that what with work and other commitments i think i only had the bike out a couple of times between that and the end of the year, gutted what a waste of a really good summer. so far i've booked this, couple of days out with the wife, Ride the County, run round Oxfordshire and surrounding countys raising cash for the local air ambulance, camping and hog roast at the end, see you there hopefully, green R with white wheels. www.ridethecounty.org.uk/and am aiming for a Gold in this, National Road Rally, done it a couple of times and gained a Bronze/Silver so far, won't be doing many more all night events, fraid my night vision is just terrible these days so days are numbered for night riding. www.nationalroadrally.co.uk/2015/index.phpalso got a few days booked touring South Wales with the wife and hopefully my annual trip up to Squires if anyones about, probably off touring for a few days down south during my works shutdown, so looking like a busy year. Hope your spring arrives soon Lighty so you can get back on the road, i've still got work to do on the bike but with the weather warming up here now i should find it easier to get motivated. Pete

Love to be there, Pete, but that ferry ride over the North Atlantic is a bit of a hurdle.

Thoroughly pleased to report that the beast breaths again!! All new parts fitted, voltage test done on battery whilst engine was running(14.8v approx) so all appears good to go. Just need to renew road tax and we're rolling, fingers crossed for some sunny weather! Firmhand, it would be good to link up on the Ride the County event or failing that I will no doubt see you enroute? Never done the National Road Rally before, what do the tests consist of? Good to see the spring has got others stirring and thinking of riding again Anybody else doing the Kawasaki Day @ Ace Cafe?

Hey Cartwright sorry for the delay in replying, this must have slipped under the radar, will keep an eye out for you on route mate, were starting off from Carterton and going clockwise round all 4 checkpoints, no idea on timings going with the wife so kinda making it all up as we go along, was planning on camping all weekend but its the weekend of littleuns girlfriends 18th so all a bit up in the air at the moment. No idea on the special tests never done them before, i'm just going for a Gold this year, not doing the Ace personally, to many people for my liking and nearly got taken out by some idiot pulling wheelies last time i went so tend to give it a wide berth these days, think theres a group going from next door tho heres a link. www.zrxocboard.com/board/showthread.php?48557-Ace-Cafe-2015-26-April-2015-CHAT!!
