Like i said i had them at Ullapool, woke up opened up the tent and got eaten alive, put up with it for around 20 mins i think, then packed up and hit the road, no shower, breakfast or anything, horrible little buggers, stopped for fuel and one other stop on the way north and got eaten both times so i just kept going, shame cause the roads and views were stunning, finally lost them at the top when i turned east across the top (Kyle of Durness i think). Fantastic place and will head up again but later on in the year i think, would sooner take a chance on the weather being bad than get eaten by the midges!!!! Did a short trip to Wales earlier this year, i took the bike and the missus took the car, local to us tho so no real hardship, stayed right in the middle of Brecon, hoping to get back there in May, kinda a shakedown trip after the winter . Did a right up on Scotland follow the link below: zrxgremllin.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=ridesandplacesyouvebeen&thread=6421&page=1#63700Pete

Great write up of your trip Pete. It really gave a flavour of what it was like. Don't you find that whenever we undertake these expeditions that stories are to tell. Good and bad. Even though the bad ones at the time make you think "why the hell am i doing this" That's why we do them. They always turn into tales to tell in the pub, even the nightmare moments are looked back at with affection, and then we do it again Sounds like you did a very similar route to the one i did this year. As for camping! i've done the TT four times. a GP and a sponsored ride i organised for the North Yorkshire Air Ambulance under canvus. These days it's B+Bs, pref with a nice warm bar within shivering distance . I think you may be right. Do scotland later in the year with an early trip to Wales. I'm lucky up here in the frozen North! The North Yorkshire roads are fantastic when you know where to go and with the Dales,Moors,Wolds,Lake Disrict within easy reach i can spoil myself. Spring Eh BRING IT ON i say.

I did the Kawasaki Day at Ace Cafe this year, met a few Rex owners and spoke to people from ZRXUK, hence why I'm now on here Also had a brief chat with a group from ZRX Club de France too, whilst eating a burger and sipping my tea! All in all a good day out with plenty of Kwak machinery to view Once the good weather returns, I am happy to met up for a ride out with you sometime
