Cheers chaps. System did need removing down to middle section as it was sat right underneath the filter. And it was literally 2 mins of a job. 90deg angled pliers used to pull the springs. Easy peasy job. And don't they sound great with the silencer off! Bet my neighbours love me. ;-)

Yeah I know. Generally I don't like making noise, respectful sort. However, I know that the Akro has a removal baffle but I've not even tried it without it yet. How noisy is the question?

Having been the innocent victim of a "Run & Hit" accident years ago, where the pedestrian ran into the road without looking and hit me. And then having the indignity and injustice of being interviewed by what seemed like 90% of Tamworth Plod and being told how naughty it was to indiscriminately run pedestrians over , Iām all for making a bit of noise. Within reason that is. The modern motorcycle in its strangled standard factory form is just way too quiet in my opinion for the safety of rider, pillion and indeed pedestrian in those situations. Situation in question being a 30 mph road through a busy town centre. Idiot pedestrian actually admitted she hadn't looked or more likely couldn't see through an open umbrella on a rainy day. She didn't hear me either so assumed it was safe to cross the road and. :brick: Too late to react and down we all went.. Obviously, me being a hooligan biker it was all my fault, case closed. That's the way Staffordshire Cuntstabulary saw it anyway. Anyway, I digress. I run a Scorpion can on my Rex and the baffle is safely stored in a cupboard in the garage in case it gets damaged. That way, come MOT time annually I always know that this "vital piece of safety equipment" is going to be in tip top condition when i need it. There is probably very little difference between mine and an unbaffled Akra decibels wise only the tone being slightly different. In all honesty, unless you are really heavy handed with the throttle I wouldn't call the noise excessively loud. In built up areas where you ought to be riding sensibly anyway you shouldn't draw too much attention to yourself. Just enough to keep out of trouble. Just to digress a little further, I also run a GPz500s with a road legal Delkevic system on it. In its road legal form it is perfectly capable of drowning out an unbaffled Rex. So, I need baffles in Rex to pass an MOT but the earsplitting 500 gets a pass no problem. Go figure.

Ah. My little XBR500 single with it's baffled predator could wake the gods. In fact come MOT time it got an advisory even though it is stamped. That baffle once fell out and bugger was it loud. I'll try the Rex without the baffle soon, wouldn't want to lose it after all.

What kind of Akro pipe/muffler do you have. Mine does not have a removable baffle, at least not without unriveting the end of the can.

Good question, no idea off hand. It was a friends Rex and he had it fitted. I suppose it could be stamped with some details. I could ask my friend but he's over in Holland and a bit slow to respond.

My Akro is about 8 years old. Don't remember there being an option for a removable baffle in the Ti can.
Come to think of it, I don't know anyone over here that has ever mentioned an Akro with a removable baffle.
Maybe that was a Europe only option or something.
