cant go in to detail its a long story, BUT a mate of mine asked me to help him yesterday put a fence up with him, crap weather to start with, the woman who was having the fence had gone out so no water or electrics, I'm digging a post out when my mate tries to get the still saw working to cut a post. saw wont start and the pull cord snaps so he tries to get the saw going with a drill in the starter, well as he put some rag on the bit to start the saw up he pressed the drill and his thumb got caught in the rag, next thing i know half his bloody thumb is hanging of, so had i had to stop the bleeding call an ambulance then when he was off to hospital go for his wife and take her to the hospital. i didn't get sat down until 11pm las nigh then had half his thumb amputated at the hospital, as he had made a right mess of it... i told it was a bad idea!!!

Some days it's just better to stay in bed, but well done a cool head when someone is injured is vital. They do say the right tool for the job ! Sounds like you were the wrong tools for the job !! :mut:

Just worked out what a still saw is. Sounds like your mate is an accident waiting to happen. Power tools don't take prisoners as he has found out. Should have known better, really

If he wants shot of the rest of his digits, I can recommend using a drill driver to remove the clamping screw from a stanley knife (no it wasn't me). Hope he mends well and has learned his lesson, sounds like a good job you were there.
