What exactly does the spring on the fuel pipe do? And is it necessary?
Mine was distorted when the carbs were removed so it wasn't put back on, it's only £2.30 so is it worth slipping a new spring over the fuel pipe?

Stop, Wait! Hold the presses Dont you realize that without that critical spring your compression and rebound settings will be waaay off. Probably to dangerous to ride. Send your bike here and Ill see what I can do to fix it up.

Funny you should say that, I was gonna ask a guy at work to use my bike for a while to keep it running so the fuel doesn't stick my floats open again
