Hi All
I am looking for some advice I have sitting in the Garage a 1200 engine out of my 06 Rex the starter motor chain went and one thing led to another and the oil pick up got blocked - we did try get teh lump running but appears that the crank is gone
I have been told that cannot just get new set of bearings as each bike is virtually individual and will cost a fortune to get repaired - Cheaper option would be getting a 2nd hand crank and rods - the engine is still complete and loathed to break it but would like to do something different with it
can any one shed any light on the Kawasaki spares re the shells and if able to change
All the best all the time

Just had a read in the manual. Firstly bits of info: -
The rods are matched in pairs. 1 and 2 have the same combined weight as 3 and 4
They use plain shell bearings
There is no torque figures quoted, but use the angular twist method or the bolt stretch method
There are no undersize shells available as far as I can see.
If it were me, I take the whole assembly to a decent engineering firm and ask them to measure the journals and crack test it. Only then would I think about rebuilding it.
PM me if you want more details
