Hi,
I've had one fitted on my Rex for longer than I can remember as it was one of the first mods I did. Yes you will notice a difference either as a slight increase in performance and a snappier throttle response and/or a slight increase in fuel economy. Don't be expecting any dramatic changes, an ignition advancer is not the Holy Grail of bike tuning but nevertheless well worth the effort.
Piece of cake to fit on the Rex as it's just a straight swap of the ignition rotor.

I have run a +4 degree advancer on my REX for a long time. I don't think it adds anything to power production, but does appear to smooth out the pickup just off idle. As Grem says, its a simple swap and replace. Ususally the ignition cover will come off with the gasket intact. When you replace it, be sure to put some sealant over the spots where the engine cases connect behind the cover, or you may get some oil weepage.
Those who've modded the whole way with high compression heads and ZZR cams have found that at that point it is best to go back to the stock advancer.

most jap bikes like a 4 deg advancer, makes the fuel burn better, a tuned bike wants a 2 deg, or none at all though

Try it with the K Trick thing unplugged as well. I ran mine unplugged for a while, now it is removed & binned.

Interesting Phoenix.
Never considered that. May try it some time.

Quite a few over on the OC have done it & noticed an improvement. Costs nothing to try it anyway just unplug the connector under the tank. I made up a blanking plate carefully crafted from an old sat nav mounting disc with an angle grinder and some sandpaper. Attachments:

All the KTric does is retard the ignition at 4K revs for part throttle emissions tests.
theres normally a dip at 4k but when u disconnect the K-tric u don't have that dip as the ignition advances it's not a huge difference but the bike feels a lot crisper and a bit more eager

It costs nothing to try, and in true Scotsman style a few have noticed better fuel economy as well, me included. A recent back to back run up to North East coast of Scotland with another bike with about the same mods as mine showed he was using a couple of quid more fuel consistantly over 3 fuel stops.
Calculated mine and the average consumption over 950 miles was 44.5 mpg.
Moving average was 52.8 mph over 17.54 hrs, max speed reached was 134 mph tho' have no idea where that was, must have done a spirited overtake somewhere along the way. ;D

Clearly on a track, Brakey. Phoenix would never ride at those kinds of irresponsible speeds on a public roadway. ;D

Thanks for the info i will have to get a blanking plate made now
