I'm considering changing the bars on my Rex.I know that the OE ones are made of cheese and I still can't be sure that I've not bent them slightly after a spill a couple of years back.
It was only a low speed off, just enough to scratch the bar end and brake lever but something doesn't seem to be lining up properly. I'm 100% sure that the forks and yokes are straight and have replaced the fairing frame for a straight one to avoid any "optical illusions" creeping into the equation.
The only real way of checking them is to strip them off the bike and lay them on a flat surface. If I'm gonna be going that far I may as well replace them anyway.
So my question is, which bars do I go for? I don't want to alter the riding position too dramatically if at all. Looking at the Renthal bars in a catalogue I'm guessing I either need the low or medium ones.
Does anybody know for sure?
Other questions include, do I also need a brace, what bar ends to go for and which grips would you recommend?

Find dead centre of the bars where they attach to the bike, get a length of string from dead centre and measure where the actual bars end
Do this to both ends of the bars and see if the measurement is different

Other questions include, do I also need a brace, obviously, why go to the expense of getting renthals and not sticking a bling brace on

renthal bars are great got them on mine but be aware that there about a inch longer both sides so you can cut them off or stretch the wiring a bit ,took me quite a while to re root every thing

In that case I'd probably cut mine shorter.
It's the height that's more important to me. Which ones are nearest to the standard Rex bars, Renthal Low or Medium?

OK, I got my Renthal bars now I went for the Low variety thanks to the advice of Mr Snoopy. Cheers mate. One last question and I'll leave you alone. As aleady pointed out these bars are about an inch longer each side but cutting them shorter does seem to present a small problem. I hadn't realised there was a threaded insert already fitted into these bars, recessed about 3/4 of an inch deep. If I cut the bars shorter I'll cut into these also, further limiting my choice of bar ends. I bought these bars secondhand but in as new condition and am not about to wreck them by doing something stupid and have to by a new pair. Do these threaded inserts come ot easily enough with a good pull or s

Could cut them off by 3/4" then but maybe the bar ends would then stick out an inch from the end of the bars, and that'd be a cool, unique, blingy look, eh?
