Yeah yeah...but dont you find all the 600 & 1000 sports bikes a bit "samey" these days? I mean, you can go to the newsagents & pick up a bike mag & 9 times out of 10 the front page is gonna read..."R6vZX6vGSXR6vCBR6 Giant test" . . or "GSXR1000vZX10RvFirebladevR1...which is fastest round a track,test"...and these days, you just KNOW youve read it all before... Quite honestly,i am so bored with reading & hearing about 600 & 1000 sportsbikes. They are all immensly capable bikes...more capable than ANYONE can ever exploit on the public roads...but would i buy one? Not a chance, even if i could afford to. Sorry Bernard...put a pic of a 1991 ZXR750J2,or an immaculate YZF750R or a mint 1993 GSXR750/1100 & i'll drool. But todays sportsbikes...nah...they've just got no "soul",identity or personality...each to their own,but not for me...

I think I've got to agree with snoopy on this one. I've never been a great lover of sportsbikes anyway, and what makes a bike like the Rex so atrtractive is its uniqueness and the fact that it is a lot more capable than some of the bikes we only ever dreamed about in our youth. A friend of mine has a mint ZX10 from 198? and I've had the pleasure of servicing that and road testing it (often, I had to make sure I'd got it right ) That's the kind of classic individual bike that I'd lust over. Bikes from that era, for the most part had their own individual style and character. Look at the old GPz range for a start. They has a prescence and a corporate identity now sadly lacking in present day machinery. :jerry:

Yes have bought 6 mags in the last 12 months they were very similar in content and looked again yesterday , and as you say all repeats that is why i do look for more intresting older bikes and will be posting them somewhere here soon as things get sorted here

I ve been watching an immaculate 89 ZX10 on fleabay...i was tempted, believe me...but i mustn't...Mrs Snoops would shoot me if ANOTHER bike appeared in the garage. . . Mind you...if i could find an immaculate/unbutchered/unmolested/unstreetfightered/unmodified 1993-1997 GSXR1100W,in blue & white to replace the one i wrote off 4 years ago,she WOULD approve of that. Ive always said that i would get another one like it one day. Theyre just very hard to find nowadays tho. . .prehaps its wishful thinking that i will ever find another one like that. Id swap my Blackbird for it,no question...mind you,id swap my Blackbird for a "working" ZRX...!

Engine out-wheels out-all bodywork off-lights & controls off & a few other bits & bobs off! I want to paint the frame, but dont want to remove EVERYTHING-including the loom. Then ive got to decide what colour to paint it. I want to do the swingarm & forks in gloss black & ive thought about doing the whole bike black with just some polishing & chrome here & there to set it off. The bike is turning out to be a real lemon. A lot more work than i really wanted to do...but i think im too far in to "dispose" of it & start again with another one. Like i said...id swap my Blackbird for a good standard ZRX...then it wouldnt matter about the rebuild so much. I could take 3 years to do it if i wanted. I do like the Blackbird & in the winter its been great...but i really miss not riding the ZRX-especially noe summers coming & the weather protection isnt so important. I rode a XJR1300 on Friday belonging to my mate. Not as "taut" & pokey as the REX,but it did make me miss riding a "naked" bike... I dunno what to do at the mo. . .

Actually,i quite like the idea of going completely naked...i'd love to get as "S" and take the fairing off, leaving the "S" badging and paintwork, but with just a single round headlight up front...then continue with my twin exhaust project. . .
