Here is a link to a You Tube clip of Kawasaki's new 'screamer' engine, in action during testing at Jerez earlier this month.
The screamer, which made its public debut at Sepang in January, certainly lives up to its name - sounding like a mini F1 engine as it just keeps on revving...
Kawasaki currently races a 'big bang' version of its ZX-RR engine in MotoGP, but hopes to give the even-firing screamer its race debut in the near future.
Screamer engines, as used in road vehicles, have higher maximum performance and lower vibration compared with 'big bang' designs, but big bang - where cylinder firing is grouped together - offers better traction and throttle control.Yamaha, the only other MotoGP manufacturer to use an inline four-cylinder engine, has said it will 'never' return to a screamer design. to view the brief You Tube clip...
