It was such a nice :sunny: and dry morning here that I decided to commute on the Rex for a change. I didn't have to be in work 'till late so I thought I'd set off early and have a play on the way in.
At least, that was the plan.
I was getting low on fuel so thought it best to fill her up on the way, rather than have to mess about on the way home. Stopped at garage, filled up, paid for juicen no problem. My immobiliser automatically cuts in after 30 seconds so had to go through the usual rigmarole of pressing buttons before turning the ignition on.
Buttons no worky.
I'm supposed to get a warning flash from the LED on my remote if the battery starts getting low. did I get one?
NO!!!
So there's me trying to go through the process of disarming the alarm without using the remote in such a situation and couldn't get it into emergency mode. All that happened was the alarm kept on going off!!
As luck would have it, while I'm trying to read the instruction sheet which I keep filed away under my seat just in case, the heat from my sweaty palms was just enough to kick the battery into life and start the bike normally.
So after a manic 140mph plus sprint down my private bit of dual carriageway I get to work with minutes to spare. By the time I actually start work after having rushed around getting my bike gear off and put away and nearly drowning myself with the cup of tea a colleague made for me my brain is still doing 150 mph and nobody could keep up.
Not a good start to the day.
Kept bike keys in my pocket all day to help keep remote battery warm in the hope Rex would start easily come home time. She did, but after getting home and having kept the alarm remote in the outer pocket of my jacket wasn't able to set the alarm after putting the bike away.
Even the spare key fob that never gets used is dead so I guess it's an old age thing.
New batteries required methinks or I'll be walking to the Ace, or worse still, home again.
At least, that was the plan.
