Mogwai is shortly due to take his bike test (weather permitting ) and has been offered a 600 Bandit at the right price which will be up for sale shortly after his test date. At the age of 17 with a full licence, I know he'll legally be restricted to a 33 bhp limit for the next two years. The bandit is 50+ and will need restricting. I remember hearing somewhere that this restriction work needs done "officially" at a dealers and some form of certificate will be issued. Is this the case, will plod need to see this in the event of a producer being issued and will Insurers need to see it as evidence that they are insuring a restricted version of this bike? What's it for in other words?

If you dont have the certificate for the restriction, you are effectivly riding a bike for which you do not have a licence. If you shoud have an accident, you wont be insured if you cannot provide proof of the restriction...and you'll get done!

Not sure where they measure the 33bhp tho...at the crank or wheel? If its at the wheel, you could ride any number of unrestricted bikes...Harley 883...Many big traily singles...Enfields...in fact any manufacturers bike that bullshits that they make 45 bhp,cuz thatll really be only 40 then lose another 7 en route to the wheel...hey presto...33bhp!
