Kawasaki's Shinya Nakano mastered difficult conditions today(4th March), at a cold and windy Catalunya, to finish the second day of the annual IRTA test with the third fastest time overall. Nakano started the day with shakedown tests on the latest specification Ninja ZX-RR engine, before switching to his second bike, and an earlier version motor, to continue tyre testing with Bridgestone. The 28-year-old Japanese rider lapped consistently throughout the day, rarely dropping outside of the top six, before securing third position on the timesheet with his final flying lap.

The 2006 season opened at Jerez today, with Kawasaki's Shinya Nakano and Randy de Puniet both putting in impressive performances during this afternoon's one-hour free practice session, to finish in fifth and ninth place respectively

Interesting race. Good to see Loris win & not Mr Boring Pedrosa...and it was nice to see Sete Giveupnow go out so soon too. Shame about Vale tho...still,he still got a couple of points having crashed,broken his footpeg & brake lever off & rode the race with his foot on the silencer... Dunno why Ellison doesnt just give up tho...what a waste of time...

Shinya came in 7th, not bad to say what bikes were in front of him (all Hondas) but 1 I think he did well

02 Jul 2006 DE PUNIET TWELFTH AT DONINGTON AS NAKANO RETIRES
Randy de Puniet was the sole Kawasaki survivor in today's British Grand Prix at Donington Park, bringing his Ninja ZX-RR home in 12th place after a mechanical problem forced his teammate, Shinya Nakano, to retire from the race at the halfway stage.
