rex is overheating and dumping fluid when ticking over in heavy trafic, cooling fan comes on at right time, but temp still rises. any thots

Sounds like low fluid or an airlock? Have a quick check under the left hand side reservoir.
Is it low?
Does the level go up and down when you rev it?
Is the fluid uncontaminated with oil?
Is your oil level looking a bit high?
The last 3 all relate to symptoms of a blown head gasket (nasty)
If none of there I reckon you should whip the tank off and get to the thermostat housing . Could possibly be stuck closed causing a local hotspot and hence the boiling

level ok and stays the same when reved, no oil in fluid, oil level is ok, (no emulsion). will fit a new thermostat and see if it makes any diff. cheers
