I went to Brands Hatch on Sunday to watch the racing. Mileage to my friend Paul's place is somewhere between 60 and 70 miles. My milemoter was showing 100.1 miles on arrival! Similar on return. On the way back I checked to see if it was just that or if it was tracking exactly with the bike's mileage. It is. I filled up on leaving home and shortly before returning home. It looks like the bike is doing around 130+ on its tank range, using about 12 litres of fuel. So the upside is that my 1200R (2002) is unlikely to have done the 10k recorded on the clock. More like 7,500. Downside, I have to do something with either the clock or the gear mech down on the front wheel. Does anyone know of anybody who can check this out either replacing the wheel gear mech or recalibrating the clock? Any advice well received. Checking the speed on the clock, I'm doing just under 4000 revs at 70mph, 4500 at 80mph, 5000 at 90 mph and 5500 at 100 mph. Does this sound fairly accurate? Thanks chaps...

Obviously I don't know the history of your bike, but it sounds like you have got "KPH" clocks rather than "MPH". Could be that they have the right dials but the wrong internals. I know it sounds bizarre, but I have seen it before. My son had a bike that showed the correct(ish) speed, but the odometer definitely recorded Kilometres rather than miles even though the clock said miles!
Don't really know the answer, but maybe swapping a clock with someone else or get one from FleaBay?

Thanks Burchy. You could be right. If it is the clock does anyone have a spare that I could buy? How about the mph to revs? Does that sound about right?

The revs to speed numbers seem about right. Certainly not a million miles away from mine. The indicated speed is probably OK, just the odometer is set up fro Km's.
I'll have a dig around and see if I can find different part numbers for various clocks. As for a spare - can't help you there, and there's nothing on eBay at the moment, but I expect some member somewhere has a spare set of clocks

I think burchy has hit the nail on the head. I had my clock faces re-painted to read in MPH but the odometer obviously still records KM.
You can get a mechanical converter that fits on the back of the speedo but your speed will then read wrong.

Ask Snoops he has some spares left over from most bikes, or knows where to get them..

According to my calculator, 100 kilometers = 62.1371192 miles so the Km mileometer theory holds water. that sounds about right.

Thanks everyone. Great advice - even down to a conversion! Really appreciate the time and effort given to the replies. Clearly I'm gonna need another clock. How best to get in touch with Snoops? Or perhaps I shold begin a new thread with a request for a speedo?
Thanks again, really appeciated! Johnt

This also of course resolves the question of your phenominal fuel consumption figures, 180 km = about 115 miles which is a somewhat more accurate figure between top up.

Hey guys, the clock shown is for a 1200, its the same as for an 1100 too right?
Is this something that could be OFFICIALLY 'clocked' to show the right miles covered by my kilometers covered speedo!!
Are they simple things to fit, or does it have to go through a bona fide dealer to authenticate mileage?
Cheers

I think to keep on the right side of the law, it may be best to phone the DVLA or the Police just to check out what/how to do it. It must have been done before, so i think they wil know what to do. Good luck
