What sort of range are you guys getting on standard unleaded? I've just gone on to reserve at 180 miles. Mostly motorway / dual carriageway miles and since I've only just got it I ave been taking the speed up a bit...

That must be some sort of record. I normally get around 130-140 in commuting mode and 110 when 'enjoying' myself.

WOW I've never gotten anything like that number of miles before reserve (130 - 140 seems like tops when one is riding in a "restrained" manner, if you're havin' any fun, its generally less - how much fun being inversely related to the mileage ya get). Did ya get over 40 mph on that ride??

Just thought, we possibly have one member who can beat that. He who never goes above 20mph and gets off to push it round corners. Any guesses.

Hey, I'm not making this up. This is the first time I've worked it out. It's just been fully serviced. Unless I've got problems with my clocks, it was a genuine 180 mles and then the "oh s**!" where's the reserve tap?" I'll try it again with this fill up and let you know. And by the way I'm definitely having fun...

Johnt, Hope yer right. If so you have the most fuel miserly REX that I've ever seen reported (notwithstanding FLOOG's "apparently addled" musings - those kinds of speeds probably resulted in totally mashed bananas and we all know what that leads to )

....A while back, BADGER kindly escorted me to BOX HILL, and once free of traffic he was riding at a healthy pace. A couple of times I had to hit 120+ to keep in touch with him.... Being on the Majestic Grey, it only felt like 80mph. Yes i must say Floog goes go fast.......so long as the road was built by the Romans.

I don't know what's going on here, but on this fill up the Rex has just gone over 200 miles on the counter. The petrol gauge is just about hitting the red, so as I leave for Brands tomorrow I'm sure it'll go on to reserve. I've just had a full service. It's running those great plugs everyone talks about (can't remember the name) and it's completely standard e.g. end can. So is this possible or is my mile counter telling me lies? I'm gonna do a check against the car next week for distance to make sure. Does anybody know what the tank capacity with / without reserve is in litres and gallons? I'd like to work out the miles per gallon.

Johnt The tank holds 19 litres of fuel and goes on top reserve with 4.5 litres left. HOW to measure mpg:Fill the fuel tank up to the brim. Zero the mileometer. Drive normally till you hit reserve. Record the mileage and the amount of fuel needed to again fill the tank up to the brim. Then work out: miles per gallon = 4.54561 x distance / litres fuel Example: bike travels 180 miles and uses 14.5 litres of fuel. mpg is then = 4.54561 x 180 / 14.5 = 56.43 miles per gallon

Thanks Floog very helpful. I'll use it. However... I went to Brands Hatch today to watch the racing. Mileage to my friend Paul's place is somewhere between 60 and 70 miles. My milemoter was showing 100.1 miles on arrival! Similar on return. On the way back I checked to see if it was just that or if it was tracking exactly with the bike's mileage. It is. I filled up on leaving home and shortly before returning home. It looks like the bike is doing around 130+ on its tank range, using about 12 litres of fuel. So the upside is that my 1200R (2002) is unlikely to have done the 10k recorded on the clock. More like 7,500. Downside, I have to do something with either the clock or the gear mech down on the front wheel. Does anyone know of anybody who can check this out either replacing the wheel gear mech or recalibrating the clock? Any advice well received. Checking the speed on the clock, I'm doing just under 4000 revs at 70mph, 4500 at 80mph, 5000 at 90 mph and 5500 at 100 mph. Does this sound fairly accurate? Thanks chaps...
