I would like to have slightly raised bars on my ZX1200R. Having been used to riding a Z900, I find the position a little forward and would like to ride a little more upright. Any advice on bars that I can easily fit that don't involve running longer cables, electricals etc?
Thanks

Hi Johnt
Depending on how high you want to go, consider some riser blocks that go on the top yoke. My bike had these when I picked it up and I found it too high for me so I had the dealer take them off. They were ali blocks about 1" high

Thanks I've taken a look at the risers. Has anybody fitted other bars?
Surely I'm not the only one that just wants to sit up a little bit? Or am I...

You can fit the risers without having to do anything to the bars or cables. They move you up and back to a more upright riding position and is the cheapest and easiest way to go.
Other people have fitted renthal bars, just chose the type you want, but you may have to drill them for the retaining lugs (but thats another story).

If you raise the bars by more than about 1" you may start running into cable problems. The stock cables don't give you a lot of extra length to play with.

In an ideal world they would be Z1 bars. Can't beat em!

I think most people change the bars. Its one of the first "mods"...but they usually lower them by about an inch...

you could loosen the bars & roll them closer but they'll hit the tank as they pass the limit of the steering stop. last time i had my front end off (no actress & bishop jokes please)i drilled & tapped 2 holes in the lower triple tree where the stop hits. now i have the option of inserting an allen bolt & reducing my steering radius ( no, not like a rickman, i've done the austin powers thing!!) in case i installed flat bars although i've come to appreciate the leverage of the stock bars. i wouldn't put higher bars on either. any change i made would be lower & forward. best handling (i use the term loosely) Z1 i rode had drop bars.
