sorry for probably a very silly question How often should the swingarm grease nipple be pumped full of the messy stuff Put loads in last time and it didn't start oozing from the seals, so probably more can go in

That just shows you how efficient the seals are then. That single grease nipple supplies a fairly large cylinder with bearings at either end and a spindle running all the way through it. Bearing in mind that the japs at manufacture only use a teaspoon of grease on the entire bike, this leaves room for an awful lot of additional grease. Keep pumping. Not too sure of the interval but probably every other service. Check in the manual to prove me wrong.

If I remember correctly it'll start oozing from one end before the other. You probably can't get it entirely charged with grease because it escapes from that end (can't remember which one it was) before you can get it filled.
But then, as Gizmo said, almost any grease you get it there will be more than Mama Kaw applied at the factory.

grease guns blow seals! when replacing your chain remove swing-arm,remove needle bearings. clean! generously apply assembly lube to new bearings & install in swing-arm. fill axle void (the hole) completely with belray waterproof grease(just jam the green goo in with your fingers). align swing-arm with frame (don't forget that rubber shoo-be-doo that stops the chain gouging the swing-arm & the other bits) put your finger on the hole in the frame while inserting the axle from the other side to reduce grease loss. should last longer than you do.
