You'd be right there Jeff. When all that emissions crap comes off, and one holds it up briefly before flinging it in the general direction of the trashcan, it has been noted that it resembles an octopus. I removed all that stuff from my REX and nary a drop of antifreeze was released, let alone spilled on the floor. I do understand your dilema regarding who does the servicing on your bike. I have done most of mine for the same reason. But, having to decide right now whether to wait for days for sufficient time to remove wheels, truck them into Cycle Works in Edmonton to have my Conti's installed and then reverse the process (time seems to be in extremely short supply right now as I'm working my regular job, installing Jr. Spot and Par 4 theatrical lighting and a control system at a church, playing in the band, assist my son with completing his fence, installing the last of the hardwood in my daughter's place, and trying to keep up with the yard maintenance and job jar at home), or trust the mechanics there to do it for me. Just looking at my schedule and I'm leaning towards the mechanics cuz I'm not looking forward to very many more miles on my existing tires! if you take the time to change the wheels yourself you can do proper wheel bearing seal maintenance (i'll bet they wont at the shop) then the bearings will last longer. clean and grease parts before reassembly. pull the speedo cable out the bottom & massage it with grease. i picked op a static wheel balancer a couple of years ago so i know mine are balanced.

They're saying a week to even get the bike into the shop. Guess I'm makin' time for my own disassembly and reassembly processes.
