Hi all would really appreciate your thoughts on this
I took the Rex out this morning, did about 40 miles, the weather was s****, pouring with rain and blowing a gale . On the way back into my home town i noticed the fuel gauge was just bordering on the red/green so decided to fill up before i went home. As i stopped in the road to turn right into the petrol station the engine started running really routh, felt like she was only running on three cylinders. I went to pull away and the engine just died. , I'm stopped dead in the middle of the wrong side of the road in the pouring rain so i jumped of and pushed her 10 mtrs to the pumps, filled her up, paid. She started up fine (after about 10 mins in total) and i rode her home another 3/4 miles with no problems what so ever.
Now my question, I'm 99.9% sure that i just ran her out of petrol , but it did bring back memories of carb icing on my GPz, in bad weather the engine would just lose power and die then start up good as gold a few minutes later and run fine . I know i should have tried starting her straight away switched to reserve etc but i was soaked to the skin, p****d off etc and couldn't be bothered. The bikes an 05 R and totally standard air filter carbs exhaust etc.
Any you guys had a similar experience or got any thoughts on the subject, all input greatly appreciated and thanxs in advance.
