FRAM filters are widely regarded as the worst filters on the market. Made to a budget, cheap construction, MDF type end caps etc.....FRAM filters are actually sometimes used by the Japanese companies as replacement filters....nobody is told, and they are not stamped as FRAM...... See I never knew that, and its a bit worring as FRAM filters are widely used in the ship and aircraft industry as filters for thier engines. and marine gas turbines are fairly fickle things with little or no tolerance's for mistakes. It was amazing, my research unearthed wholehearted condemnation of FRAM filters in motorcycles. Test after test concentrating on flow rate, pressure and quality of materials slammed them. The ends are made literally of cardboard/mdf and they are so poorly made, so obviously down to a budget, that everyone says avoid them like the plague. I'd like to think in marine applications they are superior, and that the motorcycle arm of the business is just not as high a standard The whole oil filter testing subject is pretty interesting, and a bit shocking too. OEM filters are OK for the job obviously, but basically no better than that

I need to sevice mine soon so are K&N worth the extra floog Kev, I fitted one on Greta and was very pleased with the little touches like the inclusion of rubber washers for the top of the filter where it joins the collar, and one to go round the actual bolt to replace the original I've used K&N oil filters on a couple of bikes, no leaks, no problems, and I trust the brand having always fited K&N air filters to every bike I've owned I got mine from Demon tweeks along with oil nd others bits, and it was with me inside two days. I'd never tell people what to buy, only that I firmly believe you get what you pay for in this life.....buy a good brand that you trust, don't buy cheap and cut corners....ever There are lot's of good quality oil filters out there, I personally use, and am pleased with K&N
