Most of you will probably be aware that the R and S model ZRX share different OE tyres. R model specifies 'L' fitment while S model requires a 'W' I've never really had a satisfactory explanation for this apart from the fact that the S model is slightly heavier at the front end and allegedly creates more downforce. I eat half as many pies as the average Rexer so have never really understood this concept In short, the carcase construction of the two fitments is different.
Iv'e recently aquired a part worn 020 for the rear (thanks, you know who you are ) but the donor bike was an R and mine is an S. And the verdict? The S actually corners an awful lot better than it used to, feeling much more planted at the rear. With very little effort I've managed to completly remove the chicken strips from both sides of the rear tyre and the whole setup feels much more confidence inspiring. I can understand the need for a slightly stronger tyre at the front, along with the stiffer springs that are fitted to the S but why change the rear?
