DAVID BECKHAM RETIRES AS ENGLAND CAPTAINI managed to restrain myself posting world cup blurb during the tournament However, anyone who was not moved by David Beckham's emotional on screen retirement as England Captain, is basically not human in my books To see a man broken in defeat racked by guilt at not having performed well in the world cup and so gracious in acknowledging the honour of captainship which was bestowed upon him some six years ago, made me feel very humble Yes he is paid millions for what is essentially his job, and yes he will have and has had a comfortable lifestyle most of his professional life....but, he was and is a proud man who has served us well over the years and I for one will miss him As a tribute to the great man, here is Beckham's speech in full, not written as cynics stated by a spin doctor, but in his own words.......
