Sorting through my old Photos the other day, i fond this one of me in a Formula Ford, It was on a Jim Russell Racing School day. Fantastic day going round Mallory Park. This was in the mid 80s hence B/W.

Nice one. I've always fancied having a go at something like that myself. :car: Who exactly is Jim Russell? It's not a name I've heard before. Apart from owning/running a racing school has he any other links with motorsport. Does he have any history of competetive driving for instance? I've had a quick look on Google and only found his racing school in the US and Cananada.

Thats all i know about him myself , He ran schools at Mallory and Brands, his ads were always in the motoring press at that time. Thinking about it , it was more the late 70s. I know some of the GP drivers of that time had gone to his Schools, Emerson Fittipaldi was one. There was a group of about 10 going round, the usual boy racers where there, but i was the only biker, the instructors used to stand on the corners, after our teaching session, and watch us going round, after our first session round the short track (didnt do the hair-pin, dam! ) they said that i was the only one that got the gear change right, there was no syncro-mesh on the cars, so you had to double de-clutch all the time. Proof that bikers make better car drivers

Thanks for that bernard. That enabled me to search a little deeper and find this item. Jim Russles name is near the bottom as recent entries are listed first. British F3 Champions / Formula 3 / Formula JuniorPlenty of other famous names in that list too as you scroll down.
