When you have got your new bike the only bit of advice i am going to give you is to park it in gear as they do tend to roll away resulting in the side stand flipping up and thus bike laid on the floor!

Is that your work, or the dealers... My work, just started a new project in Portsmouth, nice and local to Lancs. Dealer cant get it done for this weekend and i am away all week so................ As you say, get stuck in, talk some s**t on here and count the seconds I am away all weekend this weekend as well on a huge session so that will help pass the time Has anyone turned the rear wheel adjusters (cams) up the other way to raise the back end? does it make any difference to the turn in? Storm always suffered from that, had to raise the back end 40mm to make a difference. Oh and changed my username.

you know you said the big service for valve clearances is at 15000? i thought they needed doing at 7500? mine is on 6700 at the moment so i just wondering whether they will need doing in about........umm......2 weeks? i been qouted £50 + £7 per shim that is knackered, sound fair?

The 7500 service says to "check" the valve clearances. Whatever that means. I practice they won't normally be far out so they won't have to do them. £7 per shim is on the high side. i paid £2 for my shims although Kawasaki sell them for about £7, I believe

Kawasaki changed the service interval for later models to 15K for a shim check. Presumably after feedback from dealers that a 7.5 one wasn't needed. I doubt they have changed anything internally.
I did a check around 7.5K and all were within tolerance, next check at around 15k and all but 2 were out.

ok, so should i not take it in to have the valves checked at 7500 then? my bike had a full service at 600 , 2200, 4000 & another at 5700 when i bought it from dealer. The oil and plugs etc are only 5 weeks old, so was just going to pay for clearances to be checked and nothing else, might leave it until 10 or 12 k now?

I would probably leave it, or do it myself

trust me, if i checked the valve clearances it would save me £50 and cost me £500 to have someone sort out all the mess i'd have made filling up with petrol and putting air in tyres is my limit so far!

Got to admit i'm tossing up wether to have my valves checked at 8000 miles or leave it till 15000 as per the manual (05 bike), do the rest myself so would just get them to check clearances and do nothing else.

No need for any fine measuring. As long as you can get a .18 gauge in the exh gap and a .13 one in the inlet one all is fine.
With the engine STONE COLD
The gaps won't get any bigger.
I would check the gaps for my own peace of mind, but suspect they won't need anything untill a few more miles.
