Hello,
New to the board and ride a 1999 V Max, and as much as I love the thing perhaps I need a change. Thinking about a ZRX, can I have your thoughts please.

Hmmm...ZRX performance with a tweaked 1100 or stock 1200 is on a par with a stock unrestricted VMAX. The ZRX is better looking & handles & stops better than the VMAX. Its also more practical & comfy & has just as much cred... Buy a ZRX...its the best of all the "musclebikes"...you know it makes sense...

Hello jrmax and welcome. I agree with BIKESNOOPY The Max is a terrific machine but in my opinion the ZRX is far better looking, has oodles of power and corners far better. The ZRX has a cult following, loads of presence and street cred and is comfy solo, two up, touring, scratching, commuting There is a multitude of tuning options and bling available to suit everyones taste and :broke: and ZRXUK is great place to meet like minded nutters and talk :blx: Most of the seriously mad peeps you'll encounter on this site would agree the ZRX is one of the finest bikes they've ever owned. BUY A ZRX........BUY A ZRX.......BUY A ZRX........BUY A ZRX......BUY A ZRX.....BUY A ZRX.......BUY A ZRX.......BUY A ZRX........BUY A ZRX........

REXes also turn corners, and stop . . . . :win:
Same kinda musclebike concept, but the REX is a bit more allround.

:agreed: With all of the above. As one of the aforementioned 'seriously mad peeps' around here (thank you FLOOG) I will agree that the Rex is the best bike I've ever owned. The Max, even after all these years is still an awesome bike and still turns heads. The ZRX though, truly is a 'bike for all reasons' and is an excellent all rounder that will serve you well whatever you want out of your biking. Don't hesitate - buy one. At least try and blag a test ride from somewhere and that will confirm what we've all said.

Thanks for the replies lads, but do have to make a couple of observations. firstly the bad press about the max braking and handling was based on the original 1985 bike with only 41mm forks and single cylinder brakes.. secondly, I was not aware that the ZRX performance in acceleration was anything like the max which is blistering, especially with the T boost modification I have fitted to mine.
All of the above said, I think that the new v max will be awesome at about 220 bhp but above my price range, and the ZRX is a really nice and reasonably priced muscle bike. I think I will invest in a new one , at £5300.
Thanks
John

BTW...you mention the Tboost youve fitted to your bike...a STANDARD ZRX1200 will have similar acelleration to a STANDARD unrestricted VMAX,but the ZRX will have a higher top speed & better handling & brakes. Now,if you modify a ZRX(like most of us do)you will easily find the power of your modified VMAX. Its horses for courses. Getting 135 WHEEL bhp(around 155 at the crank)aint difficult,or expensive...& i think Yamaha quote around 140 bhp for a stock unrestricted VMax dont they...but thats at the crank. Take off 15-20% lost through that shaft drive & there we go... Nowt wrong wiv a VMax tho...id love one in my garage...awesome bikes, full of character & street cred...just like the ZRX

I dont understand all this "Modding" stuff........to me, a standard "S" Rex is a thing of beauty. There is MORE than enough power unless you want to go Drag-racing-even then, you only need a blonde wig and some fishnet tights. PS. all the V-Max"s round here look like they belong to the Devil, with skull-shaped headlamps and stuff.
