OK Rexers be totally honest here, over the years of riding I've never been bothered riding in the rain wet or dry it's all the same to me, OK in the dry you can explore the limits of your riding ability but in the wet you pick a smother line, caress the throttle instead of nailing it off every corner, the reason I bring it up is, at the weekend I was out on the bike (just me & the wife) to say the weather was not great would be an understatement, we got kitted out full wet suit deal & embraced the thought of doing battle with the elements, 207 miles later & a stop for chocolate cake & coffee what a day.
So do you have fun or loath the wet ? Please bare in mind I live in Sunny Scotland. Well???

I don't mind riding in the rain. One of my "Zen moments" happened in a downpour. I was totally geared up and staying dry and began to realize that everything was connecting in a very cerebral manner. Any more I don't purposefully head out to ride in the rain (certainly used to when I commuted to work daily by motorcycle for about 10 years), but if I'm out there, it won't stop me from riding. There certainly is a sense of satisfaction having completed many miles/kms in the rain and then stop for a warm up in a cosy coffee shop!! Almost makes ya feel like superman.

Funny you should bring this up M8. We spent the bank Hol in Brugge Belgium. I've said before it only take just over 3 hours to get there using the Eurotunnel. Anyway it rained on the way out, not heavy but enough to get damp with the car/truck spray. Which didn't bother either of us. Nice weather while we were there. But rain again on the return journey. Now, as lightly says, when you have to go to work and it's raining, ya just get on with it. The few things I don't like about riding in the rain is , if my gloves let the water in, the lack of visibility and motorway trips in the rain.

I don't mind getting caught in the rain but to go out in it on purpose is not what I would call fun. However in 4 weeks time I and 5 others head North stopping in Helensburgh before going to Applecross for 2 nights so i supect I may get used to it!

I prefer not to ride out in the rain, purely driven by the fact that you are unable to have as much fun on the bike and biking to me is now all about fun. I used to ride in all conditions, many moons ago, when I was but a young lad, when I had no choice because I had to get to work. However, if I am already out and get caught then, as you say M8, you just have to pick your lines better and be smoother on the throttle. You obviously increase the probability of an accident in the rain due to the shoddy roads, pot holes covered by water, wet man hole covers, diesel spillages and the usual morrons in cars
