At last we have some sunshine to show off our bikes and enjoy the dry roads. But fa gods sake, why are some bikers showing total lack of concern for their own well being and skin. Shorts, T-shirt and flip-flops crazy so n so's But what realy made me post this, was the other day 2 R1's shot past me, they most have been doing well over 80mph (if not more) only wearing shorts, and trainers, Tshirts, or what ever they were tied round their waists............ If they would have come off, or at lest been hit buy a stray stone, or even a fly....... CRAZY FOOLS

Im sortta in two minds over this, yep on the one hand I TOTALLY understand the if you come off etc etc, and have the scars from road rash to prove the theory. But then, riding you bike is supposed to be a pleasure, yesterday afternoon I was on the motorway, armoured jeans, jacket, boots etc, proceeding at a (well lets just say I was making progress), but was I enjoying it, no not really as I was cooking. However, later on I popped out, shorts, T shirt and trainers and even though I only travelled less then a mile it was great. You look at pictures of bikers in the states, spain etc etc where temps are high 70's as the norm and they dont bat an eyelid about, shorts T shirts etc. Yesterday in my truck I must of passed hundreds of people on push bikes, many doing excess of 20 mph does anyone even think about the road rash they could get.

Lots of pushbike riders get road rash, but most of them get it at something like 20 or 30 kph (well, except for the pro rider druggies who ride in close packs of 50 or more at well over 40 kph ). That's an entirely different order of magnitude from the level of hurt that occurs from coming off at 100 kph or more!!! Yeh, there a riders over here who ride with T shirts and shorts, and many in states where they don't have helmet requirements, sans helmets. Fine with me, but if that is your "choice", then I should get to "choose" not to support the costs of your 8 months in hospital, head surgeries and skin grafts should your "choice" result in you ending up in the hospital.

Poor girl. Well I just rather be hot and sticky than have my skin pilled off sliding down the road. I have rode in trainers, but I just didn't feel safe

We all should wear protective gear. Personally in this weather I still wear a leather jacket, gloves and boots, of course a helmet. Occasionally jeans but normally armoured/Kevlar jeans. You never know what can happen. I'm amazed people ride without a jacket, boots and gloves. But it is their life, their skin and their decision. We are free people, well at the moment.
