hi everyone.. names stuart,39, from down south, been lurking on here for a little while and thought it time to say hi.. had a suzuki sv for 5 years which i pulled to bits and rebuilt front and rear end plus loads of other bits o bling etc then got bored and sold it!!! that was a couple o years ago now and started getting the urge and started looking for a bike a couple o months before xmas... wanted a "naked, retro muscle bike" and after seeing a pic of a zrx1100 in deep purple my mind was made up..found one a few weeks later on ebay(seller was a member on this forum as seen pic of bike for sale here) and after hiring a van a quick trip up to yorkshire got me a zrx1100r 98 in "deep purple" (surely the fastest colour? ) in good nick with 14k on the clock.. ;D wasn't planning on putting it on the road straight away so after putting it in my mates shed decided to do a little maintenence/tidy up over the worst of the winter months... will have to start a new "build thread" as have loads of pics of bike being cleaned up/bits painted/cleaned/overhauled etc... anyway, enough of me waffling on (itend to do that!), looking forward to being on this forum and asking daft questions and pestering everyone..!!! rgds stu

PINK...?? is that how non-DEEP PURPLE owners describe it..??!! ha, i love the band and fell in love with the colour when i 1st clapped eyes on one.. only rode the bike a couple o times(insurance) before shedding it at my mates for the dirty part of winter so looking forward to getting her put back together soon and riding...been a couple o years now..! have had a few bits powdercoated and changed a couple o bits (renthals, levers, brake lines, tyres and maybe controversially have taken off the bikini fairing/headlight!) so she'll be looking good soon... i,m near heathrow airport /j1 m3...? rgds stu

funnily enough, am listening to a bit o floyd at the mo..! yeah, am a "few" weeks away myself?!! problem is its in my mates shed and only get over his once a week due to shift work etc and money too (new chain, sprocket, braided lines and indicators).. still, front end is back in and just need to swap a few bolts for stainless ones and sort headlight, and back end just needs putting back in so not that much work! haven't touched engine as not that mechanical with them (yet!).. all show an no go as my mate always tells me... rgds stu

Another PURPLE owner - I've just graduated (October) from a blue ZRX400 to a Purple rex and well it's definitely faster Sounds like you're in a similar position to me, lots of things to do, not enough time etc etc - all good fun. Mine is a 97 and was in a bit of a state, but gave it a really thorough clean down today and wow, she has come up an absolute treat, so I'm very happy. I've got a newly powdercoated swinger to go on it soon, brake lines, just need a new r disc and a stainless exhaust system and I'll be well away then. Can't wait. Great intro - welcome YB Coincidentally, my gf has a SV650. Was yours the newer model or the 'proper one'? But she is hoping to upgrade very soon to a 8 GSXR750 - good bikes the SV, rideen hers a few times, spongy front suspension but apart from that really good.

cheers yb..i had a k4 sv650 naked, the pointy..? used to post a bit on the sv650.org forum clicky linky, great 1st bike, ended up with a set o busa forks on mine so handled pretty nice..!! my zrx was pretty clean and looked after when i got her but a scottoiler was fitted and the rear end was CAKED in oil/muck so after cleaning up have also had swinger powdercoated along with a few other bits (wheels, shock springs, torque arm) and have also serviced/cleaned/painted calipers and generally cleaning up bits and respraying some of the worst areas... never enough time and money tho... need to start a build thread soon as have taken pics but need to read up on how to post pics.. rgds stu

Sounds like a top job there Stu, loads of powder coating ect, looking forward to seeing some pics of her, do like the deep purple colour personally despite my earlier post, if it wasn't for the green i think thats what i'd be riding and converting her to an N should look good tho sorry still prefer the R personally.

Back to your post about the SV's, yeah she doesn't like the 'pointy' ones for some reason....women I know when I've ridden Rachels SV that the front forks really let the bike down, very soft, no adjustment apart from preload (I think) and make the bike massively understeer. When she rode my 7r and even my ZRX she was like ' WOW - it just wants to go round corners ' Could maybe look at the Triumph style Street headlights - twin spots?

yeah the people with "curvys" don't like the "pointys" and vice versa when it comes to the sv for some reason..? lot o people have done the gsxr upsidedowny front end swap cos of the poor suspension on sv's...i found that a lot of suzuki parts were interchangeable between bikes although i did the front end swap the hard way with one off billet top and bottem yoke amongst other things..? ;D been wondering aboutwhether to do the twin headlights or the round single on my zrx..? i like the look of both of em..have got a round one for the mo (an sv one funnily enough!) but may (probably will!) change it at some point.. rgds stu
