From MCN web site, April 27 2006 More bus lanes for bikes Bikes could be allowed in bus lanes throughout the UK after a debate this week in the House of Commons. Trials have proved that bikes in bus lanes have a positive impact on road safety, MPs heard from Minister for Transport Dr Stephen Ladyman MP. He said Local Authorities should now encourage and permit bikes in bus lanes where practical and safe, according to the Motorcycle Industry Assocation. The sooner the better !

The sooner the better ! :agreed: The trouble is, it's a no brainer bit of common sense and, as such, will probably take five years to be sanctioned by the chauferred politicians :headbang: .....if ever at all So few things are done to help bikers.....other than not having to pay the Mayor's highway robbery tax.....sorry, I meant congestion charge in London Dangerous road surface materials, man hole covers, non repair of lethal pot holes, dangerous metal barriers on many chevroned corners, increase in bike tax in the budget, lack of diesel spillage clearance or fines for those causing them, increased difficulty for young people now wishing to take bike tests.........

Precicely nothing to do with bus lanes but I thought I'd mention this anyway. On the A44 near the Leominster area is a nice fast twisty section of road, on one side of which is what looks like a country park, estate, manor house or something. No problem so far. The boundary of this area, adjacent to the roadside is fenced with 6 foot high iron railings with spikes on top. If ever a biker fecks up on that stretch it'd be like being hurled at a giant cheesegrater. For some odd reason, my riding always goes to pieces on that stretch, particularly on the homeward journey with it on my left. I rode it again today and still got that creepy, spine tingling feeling.

Completely stupid....I'm six foot four and they are tiny......it's irrational BUT, there you go So what do Asda do to help? They make me F*cking BANANAMAN!!! I have to put out three trillion boxes of bananans every morning in which you find tarantulas and other hairy basts ........Have not seen one yet, but like GREMLIN, I go cold and the hairs on my neck rise when I open each box..... :surrender:

I had to work today on the Bank Holiday......and there I was as usual around 0830AM, nervously erecting yet another stunning banana display .........opening each box with trepidation :shoot: .....could this be the one......... :rocket: A few months ago one of our managers was taken to hospital with massive inflammation of the leg :ill: ....turned out to be a tropical spider bite..... A month or so ago a big black, hairy, Tarantula was found sleepy and dormant in one box....... I have only found dead spiders so far, the size of WOLF spiders in Canada or VERY VERY BIG English house spicers.....and a few bugs and a frog type creature....... You'll know when I meet up face to face, up close and personal with a live big momma.....cos you'll hear me screaming in Scotland!! :shitfan: :explode:

. . . I have only found dead spiders so far, the size of WOLF spiders in Canada . . . I have run into a few of those wolf spiders in the Muskoka area of Ontario. They are big, hairy critters alright. Not the sort of thing you'd want to see peeking out at you from a bunch a bananas!!!! Used to chase the wolf spiders around the grass out by the road with the lawn mower. Also found a couple of large, black, fishing spiders around and under the dock. They do leave a lasting impression when you come up from a dive under the dock and see one about 3" from your nose!!!!

My brother in law is a tough hombre, an ex-ice hockey player and yet even he has a healthy respect for those Wolfies. He was clearing some fire logs from his front yard and came across a nest of the big 'ole buggers and he said, unlike UK spiders which run from you........the Wolfies not only stood their ground, but even persued him, as if shaking their eight fists and shouting....."come on then, you want some big fella" :surrender: They also get them in the house....they know Wolf's are around when bits of furniture start moving round the room ....they're big enough to carry them!!!!
