I have been trying to order a fork tube for a 1989 zrx400 here in Taiwan, but they won't sell without part number first. Been looking everywhere forever.. Can't find it. Please help Thanks Floyd111

That might be because the ZRX400 wasn't introduced until 1994 I reckon you have a ZR400 C1 from 1989 and its a different bike. If it is, the fork tube is part number 44013-1301 , but I have doubts that you will get one from Mr K

Yep.......I found the zrx400 listed along side 1989, but no parts/numbers, but plenty for the later 400. It would seem burchy is correct.. D.D.

wow, you guys are great! Thing is that here in Taiwan, all bikes above 150cc were illegal until 5 yrs ago, so the 400 of mine has no plates or papers, like all bikes in the country older than 5 yrs, and so I am not sure about the exact make and such. My mechanic told me it was a zrx400 though. Anyways, this explains why even after a massive web search I came up with zilch! Will try my luck with this info now. More info is still welcome, though! Thanks a mille! Floyd111

aiai..what a blunder... It's not a zrx, but a zxr 400. No fantasy, those japs... And I didn t know.. So, no engine number available, and it IS a 1989 bike for sure..
As I ask for forgiveness.. Any suggestions where as I might find this (bloody) fork tube number?
Respectfully,
Floyd111

Well, last update... Got the part number, and ran local and global searches, as did my suppliers. The inner fork tubes for this bike are apparently unavailable anywhere, except through official kawasaki, and they only sell the complete forks. Since this model went through drastic changes right afer its debut, this 1989 model was unattractive to copycats to produce specific parts for. And complete forks are just over 200 British Pounds each, here in Taiwan. That's too steep for me, for a bike this old. Got a nice link for those looking for rare inner fork tubes..: www.tarozzipaolo.comThey only supply dealers, but how hard is it to fake a letter head in email? They are not very helpful, but as a last resort... They don't list much on their site, but make almost every model. They are a huge producer. I am also waiting for an answer or quote now. Will let you know more later

What's wrong with the old tubes? can you not have them straightened, chromed and ground to size?

yes..it could be done, but the re-chroming process is about as costly as 2 new inner fork tubes...if those would be available.
