CONFESSION TIME...... I like the new Honda CBF1000, and did from it's original concept photos ....there, I have said it....I can feel the stones being gathered in readiness.....my club membership being shredded and cries of 'See, I told you he was weird'
I've owned plenty of Honda's , the garage who get my Kawasaki parts for me and do any work on my Rex that I can't handle are Honda, and the courtesy bikes I get from them are often CBR's, CBF600's etc....and I have always liked the CBF600 as a very comfy, honest bike in the mould of the Yammy Diversion The baby CBF has adjustable everything that even suit my ape like proportions and, although a detuned CBR engine, and not as much fun as the Hornet, it still delivers enough shove to please my limited talents
The new CBF1000 is, in my opinion a very handsome, capable machine, one that will see you tour and scratch, commute and head out for a Sunday blast, and the testers from every journal I've read so far seem to think it's 97bhp and 66 ft/ib torque is enough for some serious fun, and that Honda have got the balance about right
With adjustable seat, bars and screen, ABS option, full hard luggage option, carbon fibre accessories, and a price tag of £5999 for non ABS.....I think Honda have hit on a winner. I also think it's a step in the right direction for people like myself who are not interested in sports bikes (I look like a monkey on a mini-moto), and who want adjustable-to-suit-me ergonomics.
Now I am not thinking of trading in my beloved Rex before anyone asks.....and I don't put the CBF1000 in anywhere near the same leaque....but, I do applaud Honda's efforts in making an appealing bike for many types of rider, at an affordable price with a trusted and bullet proof engine......I did a lot of miles on a trusted old Yamaha Diversion 900 and the new CBF helps fill a niche ......with my car written off,
I might at some point go back to a second bike for commuting and maybe in a year or so, a second hand CBF1000 could fit the bill..... :hmm:
I will now run and hide.......... :hides:
