Ive been toying with selling my Blackbird for a while now,as my Rex rebuild is going so slowly & i was thinking about getting a second Rex that i can ride,so as i dont rush the other one. The thing is,the Birds great, but so lacking in soul & character & the protective fairing is really beginning to hack me off. I need to go naked again-and soon! I looked at a W reg C4 1100R with 4000 miles on the other day for £2995...boy am i tempted...but i aint got the dosh cuz i aint sold me Bird...! Right.Anyone heard of the H***a X-11? Its a naked bruiser of a bike using the Blackbird motor, fuel tank, forks, wheels & brakes. Its NOT a naked Blackbird like some people think as it has a differenf frame, bodywork etc etc. Now,ive been offered an 02 plate X-11 as a straight swap for my Blackbird....you could say im tempted...! The thing is,when Honda made this bike, they didnt do what everyone else does and strangle the motor. They left it alone,so it still produces 160 odd horses...in a naked package...mental...! Only made for two years & not very popular, they make a very good "blank canvas" for a bit of modification. There is an X-11 site, not unlike this one & there are some mean looking X-11's on there. So...in a week or two,i could be naked again...sadly,not on the Rex,but on something that has the potential to be huge fun...i'll keep you posted...

I'me sure with a makeover it will be a fine tool cus in standard trim it was pig ugly hence why it only ran for a couple of years .

Yeah, the standard bikes are ugly. It seems that most owners take the rad shroud off & throw it in a skip...then fit bar risers & Renthals, add a bellypan & some err,"vocal" cans...& once this is done, the bike looks & sounds like a real animal. . .

Log on to www.hondax11.com,go into "Owners & their Bikes" and have a look at "Dutch Black X finally ready" and "X11 in Stockholm". Then tell me that these bikes look ugly & not just darn mean!!! Mind you...if you look at some of the others, theres some f**king ugly pigs in there too... I think "subtle" and "minimalist" is the way to go...less is more... Anyway,i havnt decided to go for it yet...but when i look at the two ive mentioned above,im VERY tempted...

I'm joining late here, but better late than never as they say..... Had the pleasure of riding an X-11 a few years back and I rate it really highly. There is no doubting that, in standard trim it certainly fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down...... However, although the biking press mullered it for aesthetics, most owners have a smug grin and know they have a hugely underrated machine in their possession. Huge power, Honda build quality and reliability, and an engine that can be easily tweaked. For me as a lanky person, I found that my knees could not make long term friends with the enormous tank which dominates your view as you sit on it. It's a nice forward stretch to the bars, and very comfy for me. I also liked the linked brakes (I'll probably be lynched for that). Superb machine, and cheap as chips second hand these days.

...although,having owned my Blackbird for a year now,i cant agree with you on the linked brakes. What were they thinking putting this rubbish-potentially leathal-system on a bike of this performance. Stick em on a Gold Thing...or a Pan...but not on a bike that someone may actually use the availabe performance. On the odd occasions that ive had a "close one" on this bike, its been caused TOTALLY by the linked braking system...a very very bad idea...
