Having bought my Rex a few months ago, I am really pleased to have tempted my wife back as a pillion passenger. The last time she had done so was on a boyfriends' Moto Guzzi Le mans over twenty years previously.
On a lovely Sunday morning recently, we went for our first run and though she loved it, I did manage to scare her a few times when I pulled too hard on the loud handle. MRS FLOOG expressed concerns over the positioning of the grab handles and a fear of shooting off the rear
After much contemplation, I took the decision to invest in a Kawasaki luggage rack and side pannier mounts. They are compatible with Givi and Kappa hard luggage cases, which I have used extensively in the past, and I personally like the looks of the Kawasaki rack over the aftermarket options.
Spoiling the looks of the Rex is not something I take lightly, but for me, MRS FLOOG's happiness, Comfort and safety will be an intrinsic part of our future biking exploits (ain't love sweet!! ).
I have to say, I am really pleased with the outcome The rack (part numbers 99990-893/890 for rack and side mounts) and mounts were £130.09 with free postage and were easy enough for even me to fit. Superbly made, and sturdy.
I then sourced a Givi R250 universal monokey rack from Fleabay, along with a capacious Givi E460 top box and Givi E88 pillion backrest. I plan to get some second hand Givi E21 panniers whenever they come up
The topbox and panniers can be taken off easily at any point if I don't need them, just leaving the rack which is not too offensive to the eye. I now have the practicality of pans and topbox whenever I need them, or not when I don't. Even the rack comes off in 10 minutes with four bolts (simply put the grab handles back on), so I can return it to original if MRS FLOOG divorces me (joke darling.......).
Not to everyones taste, but if anybody is considering luggage options, I heartily recommend the Kawasaki rack.
