sometimes, well almost awe of the time. Only had tae bumpstart the big Z once, shoved it up a hill, sat on it an rolled it doon while tryin tae get a high gear so as naw tae lock up the back wheel. Managed it jus in time. Shoulda selected the required gear before a started rollin doon the hill er feelin a wee bitty wierd the day, why.

One of the bestist ever inventions in recent years and has saves countless bump starts. If my Gpz500 didn't spend all its spare time when not doing anything useful, plugged into the optimate it'd never start. It doesn't get used enough, that's my excuse and it's also most of the problem. Forgot to plug it in after my last ride on it a couple of weeks back and the battery wasn't quite strong enough to fire it up. Bump starting isn't an option, it's uphill all the way out of my garage. Fiddled about trying to jump start it only to find that my portable battery pack thingy is also dead :hair: so plugged it into the optimate while I got Rex ready for the road and got my bike gear on. That took about 10 minutes. As I was putting the 500 back into the garage before going out on Rex I just thumbed the starter button out of curiosity. It started. Put Rex back in garage and went out on 500 as intended but it just goes to show how useful an optimate can be. Really surprised that it gave me enough charge in so little time to get me going and once on the move the bike charged itself.

:agreed: When my bikes had to be left outside the only protection they had was a bike cover but that creates condensation and dont do no good for the battery in sub zero temperatures i use to hook up the optimate to the bike by a long extension lead outa the back window before that i was constantly being let down by a flat battery without it ..mind you the bike was italian Bump starting a v twin worked on some days an not on others Bring back kickstarts

My reply was a big smile and of course a big yes No more room for any more bikes in the garden or the shed so the only thing to do is to move house Only joking :hides:
