I had another one of those "what would you replace the Rex with?" conversations with somebody earlier. Still the same old reply....... ZRX1400?? Is Kawasaki going to detune the ZZR 1400 and make another Rex? If they did would you buy one? My answer to that would be, probably not. I've grown kind of attached to my 1200 over the last 3 1/2 years having never owned a bike for this long or covered so many miles on it. Why didn't all the 1100 owners go out in their droves, trading in their bikes for the 1200 on its release? Probably for much the same reasons. The 1200 really isn't that much of an improvement on the 1100 to warrant the expense of trading up. For far less than the cost of trading up, tuning and other minor mods can easily bring the 1100 up to 1200 standard and possibly above. Using the same logic, the 1200 is more than enough for most of us on the roads in the real world, so apart from the status of owning the latest and greatest, why bother? If you really want it to compete with a hypothetical 1400, which will more likely be a detuned ZZR in any case, why not just tune the 1200? Anyhoo, I've heard a rumour that a ZRX1400 isn't likely to be produced anyway. The next offering may well be more like an ER 1400. I found some pics recently although am not sure of their validity and have unfortunately lost the link. Would you buy an ER1400?

ER?
Not familiar with that designation.
Is that either the touring version or the naked version that has been banteyed about?
I didn't like the looks of either one. Probably keep my 1200R thanks anyway. Just a few more (like that's gonna happen) mods and it'll be just about what I want it to be. Why would I want to start over again. Can already slide the tire coming out of a corner with the modded 1200. Might be fun to try 150+hp, but don't think I'm interested in shelling out again.

ER. As in ER 6n as it's known in the UK. I've yet to take a test ride on one of those so I'll let you know.

Just my humble opinion but that ER looks like it has been too familiar with the ugly stick but if it floats your boat well at least its not a Harley.....better duck now in case there are any Harley owners on here

Actually Grem,i think that about my Blackbird...hell,its still in production. My bikes 9 years old now & do you know the differences? 1-The rear indicators are a different shape. 2-The rear light is slightly bigger. 3-The screen is 1 inch higher. 4-It now has fuel injection instead of carbs. 5-It now produces 139bhp instead of 165. 6-It now does 35mpg instead of 40+. . .
You can see why im not clamering to buy a new one. . .

Certainly not my choice to replace the REX. Somebody said too familar with the ugly stick! I just don't like the angular, disconnected-pieces look of what apparently is the naked, streetfighter fashion. Until something comes along that matches ALL the qualities of the REX, not just its power (BTW, there are certainly more powerful bikes out there already, so if that's what yer after, fill yer boots) I'll be riding, modding, and enjoying my REX.
