Just thought I'd say hi. I've just traded in the GIXXER1000 for a silver Rex 1200 (girlfriend reasons ). First impressions on the bike are pretty good, I like the comfort and style and the power delivery is smooooth - probably a tad too smooth for my liking. Think I'll inject some character with an after market can, get me an angry howl The size and weight do not detract from the bike (top tip: don't read bike magazines, just ride the bikes) even for a short arse like me, except maybe when pushing it round the drive. Doing a bit of touring round Scandinavia on the Rex in June and probably Castle Coombe for a couple of track days later in the year. Cheers Everyone! Mau

:hello: MAUMAU and a massive welcome to :uk: That's a big change in bikes, but your girlfriend may just have introduced you to one of the finest, most underated bikes ever made...the ZRX Many of the peeps on here have gorgeous end cans, and I'm certain you'll get assistance with any questions you might have. Most important thing is dive in, make yourself at home and enjoy the nonsense...as well as the helpful info from some really nice people Have fun and welcome aboard

:hello: and a big WELCOME to you Maumau. As Floog has said, an interesting change of direction in bikes...Iam sure i dont need to tell you they are very different bikes, both built with different ideas. So try not to compare. The ZRX is a bike that has to be ridden , your not a passenger on a rocket now. And from a completely biased point of view, the rewards are just as great if not more. Any way welcome to :uk: the sunny site :sunny:

Hi Chaps, Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm down in Axminster and cummute to Yeovil by bike or car depending on weather and her shopping list! North Deven is ace! Exmoor is a great place to ride, very twisty and open in places so you can use all of the road and see whats coming. Myself and Mrs Mau will be heading up to the north coast a few times later this year. 'Passenger' on a rocket Badger? I don't think so, the gixxer demanded your full attention, the Rex is easier to ride fast. The rex has more power until it revs out, then you tend to lose the big litre bikes in low earth orbit. I've found the rex to be very stable and smooth so you don't realise the rate of knots you procure (officer ). I'm sure most of us here would like a garage full of bikes, one for every type of road and mood, but it's not going to happen soon so Rex will be my 'swiss army' bike. And no bad thing. Mau

I'll post some pics when I deside on what pannier rack to go for. It's all very standard though I'm afraid. I may do some light pimping when I get some spare cash. I think the last owner had an undertray and replacement rear light - the mudgard has been trimmed past the number plate and the cables spliced. Maybe go down that route again. Instead of pimp pics I'll try and claim the furthest north Rex pic when I go to Norway. Apologies Badger, I think my last post came across as a bit haughty. Mau

Hi Maumau Welcome to the site from an even newer member, and a fellow Southwester too. I hope you enjoy your Rex as much as I do - even my gal, who is a speedaphobic feels safe and fine on the back of the rex
