Hi All,
First of all, the picture is of my old bike which I sold in February just before breaking my foot while playing Footie!
I have put a deposit down on a 2003 ZRX and am planning to pick it up in a weeks time. I do mostly (75%) town riding and the rest A B roads plus motorway. I'm hoping the ZRX won't be too heavy as I'm slight build and 6"... I like the idea that it is easy to work on, what is the best place to find the workshop manual?
My bike is
2003 ZRX 1200S in blue Ohlins ssuspension heated grips bungs in case it falls taller screen hugger Service history for the last 5 years (same owner servicing it religiously) Valves done 2000 miles ago Ready for some mods
There is lots of useful stuff on this site hence planning on picking all your brains in the coming months
Thanks Nando

Welcome to the rabble nando. You'll love the rex. It will do all things pretty well..I have same build as you and you just don't feel the weight when moving. Nice low seat for when your paddling it around a gravely car park . All the help you will ever need right here. Good lads. Oh and lasses!

Hi RT,
Thanks. glad to hear about the weight, if I'm honest it is the only thing that gave me a slight worry... All the reviews I read on forums are positive and reliability is supposed to be excellent. I'm planning to do a fair bit of any work needed on it myself at OMC London.
Service schedule is every 4k with major at 8k. Lucky for me last guy was good at service upkeep.
Mods wise, I will see how the sprockets feel and take it from there, hopefully won't be an issue. I'm amazed at how much there is available to buy on eBay, plenty of choice on Mods! Will post a pic once I have it at home

The only thing I would say is that for our build the suspension can be a little hard esp front. I have moved totally away from stock settings and is a great improvement in handling and ride comfort. If you wish I can give you the settings I use when I get home as I have them written down. Other than that enjoy. I've toured france, Andorra, Scotland with now issues other than a flat battery.

Ah yes - good point. I noticed that with a screwdriver I can click the front harder or softer. Yes if you can give me the details that would be great, thanks

Right. Here goes nando. Front rebound 1 turn out from full in. Front pre load 4 lines showing. Front compression minimum (fully out) Rear rebound 4 clicks out. Rear pre load set on number 2 step. Rear compression on number 2. This has worked for me for both town riding and spirited riding in the twisties. Give it a go at tweek as necessary. Improves things no end. Other comments on suspension settings would be interesting too.

Hi there nando and welcome to the gentlemans nut house.
Im in E2 London, the REX is just perfectly behaved around London's cramped roads, show it some twisty A and B roads, and it will blow ya brains out. No other bike has given me such huge satisfaction, only my current beast the ZZR comes close, so long as you resect the power response in ya right hand.
"Firmhand" on here is a slight build nearly 6footer, ask him how he handles his REX ( no problem)
