Hi guys, Just wanted to share something for those who like a bit of modding. I removed my grab handles a while back and filled the holes with custom blanks I made but I was never really happy with them. I came across these on eBay and thought I'd give them a go. They fit great and the come in all sorts of colours including plain black. Build quality is excellent and the fixing screw is covered by a flush water proof grommet. I prefer them over my custom hack but see what you think with the attached pic. On the rare occasion I need a grab handle for pulling/pushing I drop the rear foot peg and use that. Works for me. A little link to the eBay page too. Safe riding m.ebay.co.uk/itm/181292592041?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1Attachments:

If the tailpiece isn't supported with either the grab handles or solid spools in the holes then it will crack & new ones are mega bucks.

Phoenix is right your tailpiece is now held on with 4 screws at the front and no support in the middle, it will crack mate....

You do need to have a solid connection between the grab handle spots and the frame underneath or, as noted, the mounting with the 4 small screws will give way.
Can't see whether these are bolted to the frame, but with covers on them or not.
There also are machined aluminium luggage spools available that do support the tail section while eliminating the grab handles and providing an even more secure way to attach luggage/stuff with the spools.

Two of them are bolted straight through to the frame lugs with aluminum spacers I knocked up in 10min . The other two Arnt as the go in at a bit of an angle. You have a good point with the support issue!!!I don't ride with a pillion and it feels solid as a rock tbh. Think I'll go back see if I can made any additional support tweeks. Thanx guys.

Yeh it looks pretty trick it think too. Tbh I'm pretty confident with the spacer I made as it simulates the grab handle by sitting within the rubber grommet to take the downward load and are the same diameter . They are bolted on the inside with the original frame bolt and the trick cap just acts as a securing blank at the end tapped in . It's supported at the rear of the 4 fixings so it eliminates any cantilever risk. Think I'll invest a bit more time see if I can come with a fixing for the front two for extra support. If I'm not happy I'll look into those cargo bolts or get the old handles power coated or maybe even sprayed silver to match the bike.
Great advice lads thanx. Keep me on my toes please its one of the reasons I joined.

I took grab bars off and stripped the paint off with nitrmors. Then spent hours polishing. They look the part and shine! Still there for bungies for tail pack if needed too. You sound like you know what your doing tho. Bein an enigineer n all .

I might have to come back to you about your grab rails for a better 'how to' road toad as they look sweet and there is def an advantages with the bungies. I think the last owner of my bike must have had rings as one of the grabs is chipped on the top and inside . Hense the crazy rocky path of removing them lol.

Ahh! We go down these rocky paths eh I remember last year I had the idea of stripping the rims and polishing them. After 4 days painstaking work all was done and very proud of the job I'd done. What a job though to keep on top of the shine tho! Polished rims need to look mint to look any good. So off came the wheels again bearings out and powdercoating done! The stripped wheels were history. Look good in glossy powder coat too. Phew! Talk about rocky paths

lol I can just imagine the effort and elbow grease that went into that job and I totally understand.

Interesting mod.
I've a Givi top box on mine though and it mounts where the grab rails go.
