BIKE MAGAZINEFollowing last years formula, they drew up a shortlist of 87 new or existing 2006 models, and rated them in seven categories: PERFORMANCE HANDLING ENGINE WOW FACTOR PRACTICALITY & STYLINGKAWASAKI ZRX1200R"what it lacks in high-speed efficiency, it makes up in oozingly arrogant high street presence. Check the muscular engine, plethora of shiny bits and evocative paint job. And the seat's a sofa. OVERALL.....THE ULTIMATE LEGAL- SPEED BIKE. OLD FASHIONED, MACHO AND GRUNTY 45/70 AND 44TH PLACE OUT OF THE TOP 50 Beaten by the much hated FZ6 fazer, the naked FZ6, the MT-01, the MV Brutale, the as yet unavailable Honda CBF1000, Hornet 600 and 900, the new FZ1 fazer even though it has universally panned fuel injection problems, Ducati sport classic, and about every sportsbike ever made....... In the same publication, under the REALLY USEFUL SECTION, the long term overall rating of the ZRX1200R is: "Good for the Eddie Lawson impressions, but little else. Z1000 is more fun" .....I am a little confused and my head hurts...... :knock2: Anyone care to comment?........

Good old Berk MagazineThe only thing worth reading in there is the Ogri cartoon inside the back cover. Paul Sample :ten: They've obviously not thoroughly tested the ZRX, here's why Anybody who regularly covers a distance on the ZRX will be more than likely to compare it to a park bench. I know two people who made the mistake of swapping the mighty ZRX for the Z1000 and both of them regretted it. Sure, the Z1000 is fun for a quick blast. The smiles wear thinner as the mileage clocks up though. Most of these so called "bike journos" seem to take a bike for a quick spin 'round the block and spend the rest of their time writing bull****. Apparently if it doesn't entertain/wheelie/stoppie within a couple of miles it's a heap of c**p. That isn't what Rex is about and we all know that. In the May issue of "Berk" there was a whole ONE PAGE devoted to the ZRX1100 and nearly as much as a fifth of that was actually in written writing. Well, at least they got something nearly right. Don't be concerned about the conflicting reports you often read in the mags, it doesn't really matter. They've got to find something to write and print on the pages in between the adverts. When it comes to choosing a bike there really is only one good road tester and that is You.

What they tend to forget is that some people are looking for that replacement old bike with modern day technology. They are aiming at the people who change bikes like they change their underwear, its fashion..........
well thats my view anyway!
The ZRX is for Life, not just for Christmas! :mut:

The ZRX is for Life, not just for Christmas! :mut: :agreed: You know what Kwackers, just my personal observation.....But I can't think of any other bike I'd rather have than the ZRX It does everything I want in a two wheeled vehicle, it looks SOOooooo sexy , and has power a plenty....it can tour, commute, pose, race a speeding train......For me it's like a twenty year love affair in my dreams that has finally become a reality ;D The funniest thing is that in that BERK survey (Copyright SIR GREMLIN), for the WOW factor ratings they give the ZRX1200 ( 6 ), the same as the Honda CBF1000......... :rotf: :teaspit:

The Rex is a bike not a fashion accessory. I don't even feel the need to dress up to ride it. Black leathers will do. Not having a dig at those of you that do have matching leathers BTW, I myself happen to have a leather jacket that is black/blue with a white stripe on the sleeves I think that goes for a good many of us. Name one bike that could possibly replace it within the same budget. Like my 'umble Gpz500 the Rex is often overlooked and underrated by those that don't know anything about it. There's no such thing as "one bike fits all" in any case. Rex just happens to fit me perfectly. I've owned mine 3 1/2 years from new and still can't get bored with it. Every ride has been a pleasure, rain or shine. If I had a new bike it'd be another Rex but what's the point in that apart from an 06 plate instead of a 52? I'd only have to do all those mods again. I personally know of 3 Rexes that have been written off and all three owners replaced them with Rexes. That in itself says a lot. I know other former Rex owners who have regreted their decision to sell and some have bought a second Rex later. That says a lot too. With it's upright riding position with superior visibility and grunty motor, what other bike gives you that f**k off outta my way, king of the road feeling? The only way that Rex can disappoint is if you try and ride it like a sportsbike. Getting the best out of it can be hard work but that's where the rewards are. That said, the Rex excells in so many other ways the sportsbike riders can only ever dream about. (comfort for one)

Bike Mag comments are shite.
I ride my REX to work whatever the weather, and 90% of the time it gives me, a warm glow of pride and surprise of what a Bloody good GREAT Bike it is.
So bike Mag surveys, stick that up ya column.

I think most bike mag "surveys" are designed to stir up "stuff" and generate interest. Any correlation between them and reality is accidental, and they'll look after that the next time they publish. I read the rags for interest, but long ago gave up on the comparisons most of them do. You know that we warped somebody's online survey about naked bikes a while ago. There were enough votes for REXes that either every owner voted, or some folks voted more 'n once REXes forever - stuff the magzines.

ALSO in this BIKE OF THE YEAR 2006 review, were various other alternative awards, and old Rexy got a gong for.......... LAZIEST DASH TO THE SHOPS" Kawasaki ZRX1200. Easy to hop on, bags of grunt and bungesspoints- and no one'll nick it. " I am quite concerned that none of you take these awards seriously I buy all the monthly mags and read them cover to cover, pawing over the details and sucking the information into the library of motorcycling information that is my brain :chicken: I believe everything these god like journalists say, and am now going to act on the words afforded the ZRX. I shall from now onwards only use my Rex for local trips to "Singh, Raj & Patel" my local grocer shop-come off licence-come sweet shop-come general everyday store, and I am going to purchase a Moto Morini Corsaro- It's hard to ride and unreliable, and costs £8000 with extremely high running costs and servicing, will stand no chance of getting parts easily, will be impossible to insure, will be easily stolen and impractical :hmm: ......... BUT BIKE SAYS"The most eager wheelie bike yet built. Perfect for high street jinks. Incapable of keeping the front wheel down. " AND it's 39 places in front of my useless ZRX1200!! Just going to buy RIDE which has "The most pointless bikes ever made", with the Rex at number 3 apparently.........
