update for this week, having a go at taking a mold from the zed front mudguard to make one in fibreglass, the metal one is showing bad signs of age and rust, and cant go back on the bike.Ive never done any fibreglassing nevermind making a mold but its interesting stuff and fairly time consuming,I'll add some pics tomorrow and a brief description of the process.I would like to put some news up about the rex but the old Gal is running pretty sweet and requires bugger all doing to it at the moment other than having her arse spanked up to the lakes

It is tricky stuff that fibreglass, though a god job can be done. I used to leave that sorta stuff to ma mate, he was good at it. So stick to it

That was a cracking vid to watch brakey mind you thats the trouble sparky he made it look easy. Its not really that difficult Kev, loads of patience is required though and taking your time. Me I've no patience at all, so I dont do these things.

Well Ive taken the old school option that dosnt use clay,1st part of the operation in my case was get the rust/flakey chrome off the mudguard and flatten the surface for a good key. Then filler and rubbing down to get the mudguard as good finish as possible. Then make the flange, (flange as a word is a personal favourite of mine, also crevice, but i digress)made from paste board /sandwiched cardboard, cut to profile and scored to bend easier, which is superglued to the mudguard.5 coats of wax and polish next and a liberal dawb of pva, followed by a nice thick layer of gel coat. Then 5 layers of matting and resin dabbed well on,allow to harden and trim, turn over and start on other half of mould repeating the procedure.Hopefully tomorrow I will get the mould finished. The pic below is 1st half of the mould with gel coat on.I'll post a pic of the finished mould tomorrow hopefully.
