Just one thing after another this week.
Time had come to replace the headers as there are quite a few holes at the bottom, so we bought a new stainless Delkevic set off ebay..they look great.
But to do it everything forward off the seat has to be removed to expose and fit them. Luckily i was out organising a camping trip on the bikes next week round a mates whilst Dad did all the work
In doing so, the ram air ducts that are housed on the front fairing through to the air box had to be removed then re-fitted. Unfortunately, these did not sit back in correctly, the rubber being pinched and leaving a large whole for the "rammed" air to escape.
So, on a test ride, as chief test rider I return with symptoms of
fine at tickover
clean running between 0-5k
lumpy as hell from 5-8k ( where one spends most of the time in most gears)
top gear not pulling
We hadn't fiddled with anything else, so were thinking dodgy electrics?? or either the ram air system, as Dad had actually commented that it looked a bit crooked when we originally put everything back together.
Next morning, strip and start again, and we exposed the incorrectly fitted ram air ducts...all back together and she runs fine again.
Job done!
Last night, I go to fetch a tinnie from the garage fridge, walk in and hear a horribly hissing sound....uh ohhh
Walk round, and yep, the ZZR has something of a metallic nature embedded in the rear Avon tyre.
Tiny little metal object thing, couldn't get the **** out!
So this morning, Dad was busy, so I decided to tackle this by myself.
Usually have Dad near by when doing anything but managed remove the wheel, rear brake calliper and re-fit it (once sealed at the dealers for £15) by myself..I was proper chuffed too ;D Very satisfying, plus nothing broke!
Wait and see what happens tomorrow I suppose
