Changed the plugs today on my ZRX400. Past few trips she has been missing or not firing regularly above 10,000rpm in every gear. First time it did it the weather was extremely warm and humid, so I thought it may be that, but it has been doing it since we got back from France, and last night on a cool evening run to Loomies and back. Figured it was either the plugs, leads or the exhaust making the bike run lean. Haven't changed the plugs since I had here, and I'm approaching 10,000 miles since I have owned her, almost 30,000 on the clock, so off down Halfrauds this morning. 4 x NGK CR9EK. Did the work on my lonesome, which was great fun, whilst listening to the Ashes. Back together after lunch and just got back...good as gold so far. No's 1,2 had some small traces of oil, and I mean tiny, no to worried at the moment, but valve clearances are due to be done soon, so might follow that up properly then. Overall they were in good condition. For once, nothing broke Quite satisfying doing jobs by myself, even more so when it works Gave her a good clean, as she has got wet a few times recently and she looking lovely in the sun.

Job well done YB, and doesn't it feel good when you have done the work yourself, with a little music in the background.

haha, even if you don't like cricket, the commentators are so funny describing the fielding positions of pigeons, the frequency of London buses, and the medium paced planes flying into LHR airport it's definitely worth a listen. And Phil Tufnell just has me in stitches And yeah good fun doing my own spannering. She worked just fine yesterday, revved clean straight through to 12,500rpm, so all happy again! ;D

Got the same problem pending on my daughter's little Fiesta. The Ford plugs don't use a washer, but have a tapered body just above the end of the thread. You are only supposed to lightly nip them up. Some twat has really torqued them up tight and I can't move them.
Guess we will find out just how far a Fiesta will go without changing the plugs

Methinks they can go quite far, funnily enuff had the same trouble with an old Fiesta, but managed to get the plug out and leave the thread behind. It was really tight tho, ridiculously tight So best o luck there Badge. Only once a stripped the thread takin out a plug, fortunately it was an old blue Honda 200 thingy, had to take the head of an get a helicoil put in. Real pain in the arse that was.
