Boot up in Safe mode and run the A/virus again. Press F8 as soon as the first screen clears and select safe mode
If its AVG version 8 it will tell you that it will only run in a DOS mode. click OK. Might take a long time to run. Hope it sorts it out for you

Brakey PM me you address and I will send you some other Anti-Virus Free of charge, you seem to be having far to many issues with that one for some reason.
As its a trojan there is not too much to worry about.
Now for the education bit
Trojans do not self replicate, they spread manually, usually under the premise of something beneficial, or poor security practices, unpatched machines.
Usually distributed via email, newsgroup posting and some chat rooms
Disable system restore before you disinfect otherwise it is liable to come back.
I am presuming you have XP
# Right click the My Computer icon on the Desktop and click on Properties. # Click on the System Restore tab. # Put a check mark next to 'Turn off System Restore on All Drives'. # Click the 'OK' button. # You will be prompted to restart the computer. Click Yes
To put system restore back on after you are clean just follow the steps again but check the box.

Those kinds of functions are always buried about 6 or 8 menus deep into some obscure operational folder - one that you can never get at when the problems actually arise. I'd vote for a big "Safe Mode" button right there on the keyboard

Badgers Tip.. always be aware of the back end of a horse, when they let go, it goes every where :shitfan: Tell me aboot it, a hive some experiance wae the back end o horses, big scary frighty things. :hides: here is a good un for you, Whilst serving on HMS Birmingham, we were granted the freedom of the city of Birmingham, this allows us to march through the city. Therefore as part of the celebrations we were bused up to aforesaid city, evidently there is no where to park a Type 42 destroyer in a land locked city Me and my lads, the engineers were given the homour of being the last section bringing up the rear (actually we were just crap at marching). The boss engineer was leading our little jaunt with me at the rear making sure non of the lads did a runner :bbb: Behind me were a couple of plod on horses. About half way through the march one of the horses takes a liking to me hat and grabs it. I march on listening to the :cop: laughing. After a few mins the horse gets bored and drops me hat out of its mouth. The :cop: tell me its dropped it, so I come to attention (stop marching) whilst the horses go past. Grab me hat (now looking worse for wear), and start catching up the division, marching forward quickly and putting me hat on at the same time. Whilst doing aqll this I did not notice that one of the sodding horses had dumped in my path. :hair: :headbang: :rocket: :shoot: :shitfan: :swear:
